Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: There are two collections that have recently appeared on my credit report this XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, these are due to fraud and identity theft. Both collections are XXXX years and XXXX months old. I can see that one of the collections is from a Credit Card with Victoria Secret that was closed in XXXX and reopened fraudulently in XXXX. A credit statement was sent to me which I disputed because it was not me that opened that account. I froze my credit because soon after I had calls for home loans and bank accounts trying to be opened under my name in California. These identity theft and fraud collections have never appeared on my credit report until now.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I made a purchase on my Sportsman 's Warehouse card ( Comenity Capital Bank ). I had previously had my account setup for automatic payments of the full statement balance. Roughly two weeks prior to my payment, I cancelled the automatic payment, receiving email confirmation that it was in fact cancelled and that a payment would not be withdrawn. I then setup a new automatic payment of {$400.00} per cycle. I also received email confirmation of this. Forward to my payment date of XX/XX/30 and a payment of {$1100.00} is instead taken via ACH from my checking account. I notify them immediately and am told they will take care of it. After a week, nothing is done and I called back. I was told that it can take 14-21 business days for them to credit back the money they removed from my account without authorization. I was told that a " system error '' caused this. I asked to be compensated for the issue and the theft of nearly {$750.00} from my checking account. To date they have refused to do so. I have asked for a call from their " refund '' department and have had no return contact.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of 2022 I paid my credit card bill in full in the approximate sum of {$1200.00}. When I received my XXXX bill the same amount appeared as past due and my card was declined. I investigated and discovered that the full payment was sent to the SAME BANK but to a defunct account and I advised the bank of same. In late XXXX I was informed that the amount in question would be put in dispute and the bank verified that the amount was put in dispute on XX/XX/XXXX so they could search their records and attempt to locate the payment. In addition, at their request, I forwarded proof of the electronic payment to their bank but the wrong account. TO DATE I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED THE DISPUTE PAPERS after asking FIVE times to have them sent and every month I am being charged interest on the disputed amount and my billing does NOT show any dispute at all. When I contact the bank, they actually RESIST in removing the interest charges even though they acknowledge that a 'dispute ' was set up on XX/XX/XXXX. I have now received THREE subsequent bills with the interest component and NO acknowledgment that the original amount has been placed in dispute nor any information regarding the misdirected payment. It is ILLEGAL to charge interest on a disputed item
