Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: Barclay 's sent me a letter dated XX/XX/21 that if I didn't use credit card my card within 30 days, the account would be closed due to inactivity. A review online of my account on XX/XX/21 showed the account had already been closed. After calling Barclays Customer Service the same day, I found out that they closed the account on XX/XX/21 and would make me reapply to have another card. The credit line on the card was {$13000.00}, this has now caused my utilization rate to increase significantly, impacting my credit score. The representative didn't appear to know how I could formally file a complaint with his company, except to have somebody call me. He certainly didn't seem to know how to log any CFPB complaints internally. It's unclear to me how a company can send a letter saying I have a certain number of days to do something and then take action prior to allowing the given timeframe for that to occur. They also took away any points I had accumulated by closing the card.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, my father passed away. After going through his belongings, I found a credit card with my name on it. After calling the bank ( BARCLAYS BANK DELAWARE ) on XX/XX/XXXX to tell them I never opened this account and had no knowledge of it, they told me an investigation will be done, with affidavits sent to my house. After no affidavit arrived, I received a letter stating the account is valid. On XX/XX/XXXX, I sent BARCLAYS BANK DELAWARE payment records from my fathers bank account matching the payments received on the fraudulent account. Manager XXXX XXXX also told me the statements were being sent to my fathers email address and the phone number associated with the account was my fathers phone number. I also sent an FTC report making note of this. With this new information. I was told they would reinvestigate the claim. The following week I received the same letter stating the account is valid. I currently submitted all my supporting documents to the credit bureaus but was told they just report what the creditor tells them. As a young man just starting life, losing his father and finding out he was the victim of identity theft by someone he thought he could trust, life is hard enough without there credit being ruined by a credit card account I never opened. Please investigate this and/or have BARCLAYS do a proper investigation with all the supporting documents I sent to them multiple times. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: Good afternoon, Ive been a loyal and an on time paying customer for at-least 6 years with this company! My overall credit has always been excellent and Ive never had a negative remark! After not using this card for almost a year, I woke up over one weekend to a surprise notification from my credit monitoring app stating I had a reported delinquency from this company for a 30 day delinquency. As you can imagine, this came as a total surprise to me as I received no communication from this creditor and without warning about it before it reported to the credit bureaus. Come to find out, they charged me an annual fee and even after 30 days of delinquency, I didnt received a single call, voicemail, email to warn me of this delinquency and provide an ability for me to avoid a credit reporting. This all happened while this company bombarded me with unsolicited advertisements and promotional emails. Once I realized this, I called and paid off the entire balance of {$41.00} but to my dismay the damage was done by losing almost 100 points on my credit score! Im really hoping you guys can do the right thing here and remove the unjust negative credit reporting especially during the state of affairs with COVID and lack of proper warning/communication. Thank you in advance.

I may in addition request such documentation through the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation if that is indeed the governing body of the original credit grantor. 4 ) I will dispute all public utility payment histories including the collection process assigned to any collection agency, as all public utilities including cell phone charges, natural gas, electric and public violations within municipalities are not governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, but by governing bodies within each state known as public service commissions. At no time will I ever agree upon the postings of public utilities on my credit report, even though I understand that I may volunteer to add my payment histories of this nature at any time. 5 ) I may request the services of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to help me as a potential mediator in cases where I believe that my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act are in violation. At all times I will maintain a professional demeanor on the clearance of negative information on any of my credit reports. 6 ) I will only file a direct complaint with any credit reporting agency if I believe enough evidence has been ascertained showing that the creditor, collection agency and/or public service vendor is in violation of their subscriber agreement with any credit reporting agency. I may dispute excessive inquiries posted on my credit reports based on the following. As the Federal Trade Commission struggles every year with maintaining the integrity of the credit community, from filing charges against illegal collection practices that abuse against the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) and The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act ( FACTA ), bigger problems have evolved that may never be addressed without Congressional overhaul on current legislation. There is one major problem in the FICO scoring models implemented with each major credit reporting agency ( CRAS ). The excessive use of credit checks that draw down ones credit scores, and in many cases these credit reports are run as a full inquiry that causes severe damage to a persons credit score even though there was no validation on approval to pull credit or as the FCRA states a legitimate business need. Accordingly ; I may request under my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act ( FACTA ), and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) I request a full validation of each posted inquiry, proving that I indeed signed a credit authorization for each inquiry. I have opted out of my public information with XXXX, and I believe that requesting the deletion of any inquiry based on any legitimate connection to a public record vendor such as XXXX is within my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), the Fair and Accurate Transactions Act ( FACTA ) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ). In review of the numerous hard copy disputes on my credit report, I am requesting only the proper protocol to be adhered to in order to maintain the legitimacy of the hard inquiry, that includes an actual name of the person involved with any company that pulled a hard review of my credit history, but in addition a copy of the actual report ascertained from such a review. If these items can not be produced, then by deductive reasoning the hard inquiry is not 100 % legitimate. Accordingly, under review of 604. Permissible purposes of consumer reports [ 15 U.S.C. 1681b ] ( a ), I request the deletion of the following lists of hard inquiries as follows : I demand my rights be protected based on the 2020 Edition of the Privacy Act published by the U.S. Department of Justice. Consumer Complaint: There is an account for Barclays reporting on my credit report. I have never opened an account with this company. I have reached out to them about this account not being mine, I have also disputed it on my credit report, once the dispute was complete it said " meets requirements of the fair credit reporting act. '' I don't understand how they came to that conclusion because there is absolutely no documentation with my authorization of the account because I did not authorize it and have never had a card with them. I reached out to them years ago when I first realized this account was reporting on my credit report and thought they had removed it because I never saw it when I checked XXXX XXXX. it wasn't until I applied for a USDA loan a few weeks ago that I was told that it is still showing on my credit report. I want this account removed from my credit report since I did not open this account!!

Consumer Complaint: I am attempting to buy a home. This account is the only account standing in my way. Over the past two weeks I have made multiple attempts to settle this debt. I have sat on hold for hours at a time before speaking with anyone. Each time, I was given a different Collection Agency to call to pay it. Each one explained to me that they no longer have my account and it was sent back to Barclay, that I need to speak to them to pay it. Thus, I immediately re-contact Barclay who say that they can not collect the payment from me either. Finally on Friday I spoke with XXXX XXXX XXXX who went in to far more detail with me. I was told that I am only required to pay 42 % of the outstanding debt to clear the matter per Barclays standard practice. I was also told that no collection agency has my account. That it is in " limbo '' and until Barclay passes it to another collection agency I will not be able to pay the debt. I was told this could take months to be reassigned to another collector. Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I purchased two XXXX ornaments that were supposed to be 51 inches tall for {$99.00} using my Barclays Frontier card. When the merchandise arrived the two ornaments were approximately 12 inches tall and didn't even look like the ones we ordered. We sent the items back Certified Mail to the address the return address on the package we received. This was a scam. They knew what they were doing. I took pictures of the box I returned them in as well as the envelope they were shipped in through the US Postal service. I can verify through the US Postal Service that the items were delivered. However, this company denies that they were received. They refuse to refund me my money. I disputed through Barclays, provided pictures of the return envelope as well as pictures of the items that were shipped. They have denied my dispute and refuse to refund me and offer no solution. I asked them what I could provide that would enable them to refund me and they said there was nothing more I could do. The credit card claims to offer protection from fraud. I have complied with everything they have asked me to provide and still refuse to refund. I have done the right thing. I went ahead and paid off the card but I am not happy about it. I would like for them to honor the fraud protection they claim to provide.
