Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: Thank you for your previous help in trying to get a loan modification from Bank of America since we were recently denied in the past. Upon sending the loan modification paperwork to Bank of America, we were sent the same application to complete again and again. We need your help in ensuring that the Bank of America paperwork game do not continue. I am attaching the documents so the Bank of America representative can resubmit the paperwork to the loan modification team. Also, we recently tried to get Home Owner 's Insurance at a cheaper rate and the insurance company stated that I did not have a mortgage account with Bank of America and they could not send proof to the insurance company. Thanks. XXXX XXXX

And found that bank of america was taking money between transactions. When i contacted them about this issue, bank of america then tried to correct the issue wuthout paying me tge missing funds. However., they ended up having more funds missing inbetween transactions ..i have been dealing wuth this since XX/XX/XXXX when i found all the issues that gad occured without my knowledge .. why i didnt find theese issues sooner? I was affected by this wgen they announced self employed people can apply for benifits i applied and was approved and given online acess to create my claim account without acess u can nit enter the edd portal ..to certify for bennifits .. after i gained acess i certified for benifits then self employed people where certifying for past ben7fits up to 6 months and all selfemployed people were getting abywhere from XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX in first payment lumpsums if qualified i qualified but never recieved the lumpsum i didnt recieve anything until 5 months after applying.. i was desperate ..eapecially because during the time of my XXXX XXXX i got out of homelessness i was able to rent out a room in XXXX XXXX area for XXXX a month .. after the pandemic hit and i applied for benifits i asured my landlord i would still be able to afford the rent.. i waited waited kept calling edd they would tell me the benifits are goung to hit my card in 48 hours but that never happend in XXXX right before my beniffits hit iftn XXXX ..my land lord.. had me kicked out saud i was lying that i recieved payment already cause the bank was sending me several debit cards that were all empty, randomly .. and she was the one collecting the mail daily .. i recied 10 pelrwpaid cards from bofa between XXXX and XXXX of XXXX when i finaly recueved payment it was in the amount of XXXX .two weeks after i recieved XXXX. I was left dagling .. just recently edd sent me a letter wtating i was over paid XXXX dollars that lead me to check my card account and thats how i found the unaurthorizrd trans actions and missing funds in betemween these transactions .. my mistake was complaining to bofa about it ..cause they altered it with my findings to correct it without paying me or explaining why the miney is missing .. luckily i made a copy of my statements .but then my statements disappeared from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX ..but i was still able to go to my balance and trans action and find all my statements thru that .. what i did was go thru my edd deposits from edd first ..wrote the dates of deposits the amount deposited then compared to my d3posits from bank of america .. they matched so then i looked at all my balances and transactions .. goung of my available balances ..from XX/XX/XXXX in the amount if XXXX .. there was a purchse for XXXX XXXX leaving XXXX XXXX then a withdraw for XXXX where the available balance was left at XXXX XXXX .. then another deposit from edd for XXXX whuch should have brought my avalabke balance back up to XXXX XXXX ..but instead it gave me an available balance of XXXX ..difference XXXX dollars ..on XXXX XXXX.. a purcgse fir XXXX XXXX leaving available balance of XXXX XXXX .. that XXXX missising ..then anither ourcgse for XXXX XXXX leaving XXXX XXXX as available .. then XXXX withdraw ..left me a balance of XXXX XXXX .. when i pointed thus out several times .. they said they escalated it ..to the back office .i even had claim reps read my account to me to see the difference s .. they agreed.. i soent 2 to 5 hours a day on the phone with boga claims and claims suoervisors just to check my account and see that they changed the numbers .. but whats funny the money is still m8ssing if not more .. i decuded to no longer inform them about the ussues so tgey can change it online but to keep everything i find and reach out to other people like you huys for help .. there is way m8re then just this i found .. that keads me to believe that the fraud us within the bank .. they took advantage of my desperate need fir funds. So, i wouldnt be triggered to check my account. .. and pkayed me out of thousands of dollars .. i will provide all documents when requested ..to support my findings.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: Hello I have been a bank of america card holder since 2011 and I have always made on time payments. I recently found out that they closed my account. When I called they said I had too many authorized users. I give my family a credit card for emergencies. When I called they said there was no limit to how many people I can add. Why would they tell me this and then close my account? this makes no sense to me. It just seems unfair, now my credit score is going to drop because this was only credit card I have with a long payment history. They said they will not give me a chance to fix the issue and it will be permanently closed now. Is this legal? Please investigate this matter for me. I have been a bank of america customer for since early 2000s I recently opened another bank account with XXXXXXXX XXXX and transfered my money. My business credit card was also closed, they said that it was due to my business checking account being overdrawn. I thought this account was closed already and I was getting several maintenance fees, which were eventually reversed and now the account is finally closed. This is an unfair practice and I need both my business credit card and especially my personal credit card ending in XXXX reopened.

I cald bank of america back and advised what had happened. fast forward to today. bank of america billed me for the charge anyway and will not post credit untill I make a minimum payment. the only charge on this card was the fraud charge. I was told by Bank of America this is federal law and the do not have to abid by Ohio state laws.

Consumer Complaint: I have a credit card account with Bank of America and paid off my balance on it. Unfortunately my card got hit with fraud and suspicious charges that I had nothing to do with. When I called Bank of America customer support they were not helpful and gave me the run around by transferring me to different teams. They were rude, and put my on hold for hours. They did not help me understand why there were extra charges on my credit card in addition to the fraud activity. The customer support team just kept transferring me and at one point hung up on me. Very rude and unacceptable behavior!

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX of this year, I called up and discussed a direct deposit promotion with a customer agent. He told me that I had to repay a prior direct deposit promotion before I received a new one or I would start getting charged interest. I moved a lot of money around and got prepayments from clients and paid most of it that day and the rest the next morning ( which was the same day I received the direct deposit ). He had told me that this would be fine to avoid interest. I noticed today that I was charged interest on my current statement ( {$81.00} ) and most recent statement ( {$55.00}, for a total of {$130.00} ). I called in and spoke to someone who said that it was about a grace period not applying unless I paid off the entire balance, which entirely defeats the point of a promotional balance. I asked to speak to a supervisor ( someone named XXXX XXXX. She clarified that it was in fact because I had failed to pay off the pre-existing promotional balance. I told her that I did and she noted that it the same day payment issue but she wasn't sure " how it was allocated. '' Then she told me that her system was down and couldn't get the details so she couldn't do anything so I should call back later. I told her that I wasn't sure I believed her. I called back later and spoke to another frontline associate who told me the same story the first one did ( which had been confirmed to be incorrect by the previous supervisor ) and that there nothing I could do. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he refused. I insisted, then he put me on hold and made me wait 30 minutes, then came back and told me a supervisor was unavailable and I could request an email in two days. I told him I would file a complaint and hung up, so here we are.

Issue: False statements or representation
Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount
Consumer Complaint: I recently retired and relocated, XXXX XXXX is too expensive for a XXXX XXXX So my husband and I moved to the desert. We love it there. The sale of our condo took care of all the debt we owed and allowed us to purchase a home outright. Perfect. We used our Bank of America credit card to update the condo and we did really well with our remodel amount at {$27000.00}, and the only thing that was problematic was the closing date in relation to the BofA credit card. We would be cutting it close if the profits did not hit the bank account within a few days of closing. The card due date was XX/XX/XXXX ( a Saturday ), it hit the account on the XXXX, XXXX called BofA on the XXXX to arrange the payoff. BofA was going to " ping '' our account with some small deposits and withdrawals to prep the transaction. With instructions to call back on the XXXX with the confirmation of the " pings '' going through. Sure enough, the pings went through and on the XXXX ( due date ) XXXX did call to confirm, and XXXX and the customer service person went to work at making this payoff happen withdrawing from our bank account. XXXX has already mentioned that our due date was the XXXX and the transaction needed to happen then, and was assured by the BofA rep that no further interest would accrue and our account would be paid off. XXXX checked the bank account starting on Monday XX/XX/XXXX to see if the {$27000.00} was deducted from our account. Here 's the weird thing .... the Bank of America app showed us at a XXXX balance all week ... XX/XX/XXXX until Friday the XXXX when that changed and he called our bank. Apparently Bank of America DID NOT attempt to withdraw the money at all from our bank account, according to our bank. XXXX immediately called-SAME DAY-Friday XX/XX/XXXX, when he called once again back to BofA to find out XXXX happened to our payment. ( There is a letter that was sent to us about this transaction that we did not even get in the mail until Sat. XX/XX/XXXX ). So on the call XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX and the BofA rep agree that we would go immediately this day to the bank, get a cashier 's check for {$27000.00} and send it priority to BofA, which we of course did immediately. Again, conversation of this going on too long, brought up by XXXX and assured over again that we would not incur additional charges. EXCEPT, the Priority Mail and check never got to BoA in XXXX, DE ( still hasn't as of XX/XX/XXXX ). On the BofA side, XXXX XXXX has now been appointed our personal BofA rep by the end of that week XX/XX/XXXX, Postal Service looking for the check to no avail. XXXX and I now must work with my bank to cancel this check because the funding was tied to our account and we did not have access then to those funds. Now this was not easy, it takes 90 days to cancel out a cashiers check but they did it so that made the funds available ( cashier 's check immediately deducted $ XXXX upon issuance ) and on XX/XX/XXXX, we had a 3 way call between my bank, XXXX XXXX, and myself ( XXXX XXXX to facilitate the ACH ( the financial transaction to handle that amountplus learned a new word ). During this transaction, XXXX asked on behalf of BofA if he could record the conversation of the transaction and I said something like " If this pays off my balance to Bank of America, of course '' or something to that effect ( BofA should have this as a record ). Every step of the way, XXXX was a true ally and gentleman, and he backed up every BofA rep we spoke to, that we were not at fault. He assured us over and over again, as the other reps had, that we would not be penalized. In fact he said, the first effort should have facilitated the payoff. In the form of an ACH, like we did the day of the actual payoff. Because of BofA 's lack of organized protocol, the first transaction should have been the ACH I found out from my bank, the amount of the payoff was too much for them to " ping '' the account. BofA never called us or let us know that this did not work. AND we did get the account paid off, and THEN we get a bill for an additional {$410.00} in interest which we were told repeatedly we would not be penalized. This is unfair and counter to what every single employee told us until the end when the big amount was paid off. Then they did it. I believe we were deceived because Bank of America allowed their reps to say over and over we would pay no interest, and corporate came in and decided we would. It's now over {$450.00}, and I am refusing to pay this. We are on a fixed income and we were absolutely available to pay that amount off almost a month before it happened because they were not organized. Were we supposed to know how to execute an ACH? We just learned what it was. I have had this credit card since 1999, and have NEVER had a late payment or anything. In fact, my credit score is XXXX, and I sure didnt get that score by screwing around with my budgets and payments I am sorry this was such a convoluted story. It was hard enough on our end, and remember, we had just moved our entire LIFE on XX/XX/XXXX, and were dealing with moving stuff too, utilities, appliances, yadda yadda. This is only the second time in my adult life I have moved like this. So to walk into this conflagration with Bank of America was sure a buzzkill for a pair of guys retiring. In fact, it XXXX and it actually still does. We both feel deflated and disrespected by Bank of America, we also feel like they do not value their own employees to allow them to conduct a transaction then not honor the results.

Consumer Complaint: I have received a notice from Bank of America that I tried to open an account and was declined. I did not try to open an account and I have been trying to get in touch with Bank of America to determine if someone is fraudulently applying with my information, but it is impossible to reach them. They won't let you talk to customer service unless you have account details, and since I don't because the application was fraudulent it is impossible to reach them. They need to give me information so I can know if my identity has been stolen or not.

Issue: Fraud or scam
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 four separate transactions in the amount of {$1300.00} were made from my account through XXXX that were not authorized by me. I did not receive a notice of fraud or anything. The only reason this was discovered was because I went on my account to check my bank statement. I immediately reported the fraudulent charges to Bank of America on XX/XX/2023 and they stated they would look into it. In early XXXX, the {$1300.00} was credited back to my account. On XX/XX/2023 I received a notice in the mail that they were going to take the money out of my account again because they had decided that this activity was consistent with previous activity on my account, which was not true. I have never made a transaction through XXXX of more than {$100.00} and never to either of the two people that the XXXX transactions were sent to. I called Bank of America to again dispute the charges and they reopened the case for reconsideration and said they would make a decision within 2-30 business days. I called on XX/XX/2023, XX/XX/2023 and XX/XX/2023 and spoke to representatives with B of A. I called again on XX/XX/2023 and still no resolution. Bank of America then claimed that a text message was received by me on XX/XX/2023 confirming the XXXX transactions. I submitted my phone/text records that showed I did not receive a text on that date regarding that transaction. In fact, I didn't receive a text from anyone on that date. They then moved the goalposts again and stated that it was consistent with previous activity. I, again, disputed the charges and stated that it is not consistent with previous activity. They can not prove how they are coming up with this information and I have shown them that it is not consistent. I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that had {$1300.00} stolen through XXXX with Bank of America and they are refusing to return the money. There was a known XXXX issue in XXXX- as seen in numerous news articles at that time. Bank of America has not been responsive - I have reached out to them every time. They have never reached out to me to try to resolve this issue.
