Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: There was a purchase made on my visa credit card for {$8400.00} on XX/XX/XXXX, but not posted to my account until XX/XX/XXXX. The merchant name listed for this supposed purchase is " XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX '' in XXXX, XXXX ( XXXX ). On XX/XX/XXXX, I was in XXXX, and made purchases with that same ( and only ) XXXX card in the XXXX airport ( all documented on my monthly credit card statement and attached ). I was NOT in XXXX and did not make such a purchase. I have my passport that proves where I was on XXXX XXXX, XXXX, and that was in XXXX ( entry/exit stamps also attached ). I filed a fraud complaint with my bank ( Bank of America ). They replaced my card, but have denied my claim 3 times now ( all within one day of submitting/resubmitting the fraud claim, so they apparently did not even look at the information I provided/faxed to them ). I have repeatedly asked for documentation of what was purchased, who was the merchant and for a copy of my signature ( which is required for use of my credit card ). I have not received any of these requested documents and the {$8.00}, XXXX has been removed from my banking account ( which I had to withdraw from my IRA account to cover, as I am XXXX XXXX XXXX and living on my social security/IRA ). It is bank policy that if such a large purchase is attempted, that some type of contact is made with the card holder to verify the purchase. That was not done and again, the charge was posted 7 months after the supposed purchase. Please look into this claim and the refusal of my bank to return my money for this clearly fraudulent charge. Thank you!

Consumer Complaint: I submitted complaint XXXX to the CFPB on XX/XX/23, which has all of the original information. I received a reply today, XXXX. Bank of America missed the entire point of my complaint. The point was that BofA advertises their Credit Card Protection Plan as covering purchases, then denies that coverage based upon guidelines that 1 ) are not available in any of their advertising or in their application process, 2 ) are not available to the customer through contacting the Credit Card or Protection Plan departments, and 3 ) were contradicted by the original person on the phone handling the claim. The reason I involved CFPB was to get Bank of America to provide customers with easy access ( i.e., the web ) to the terms of services their card purportedly covers. In BofA 's response, they suggested I go through their Billing Dispute department to get reimbursed. That response is explicitly suggesting that I commit fraud -- they know that the issue was not with the merchant that I bought the item from, it was that the item was stolen after it was received. If I were to file a claim with the Billing Dispute team and they were to approve my claim, the money would be taken from the account of the merchant -- who was not responsible for the theft. So Bank of America has told me that to resolve my issue, I should cheat the person who sold and delivered the item to me BEFORE it was stolen.

Consumer Complaint: The company is reporting adverse information to third parties which has compromised my credit report and other reports that reflect information about me. The information has restricted my ability to obtain credit primarily for personal family and household purposes. When I entered the consumer transaction, I completed and submitted an application in accordance with Federal Reserve Act section 16. I was billed for several months in an attempt to collect a debt, without adequate notice that I had the right to dispute the debt. I should have never been billed. And should have received adequate notice which would inform me about the use of credit.

Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: To whom it is concerned : To say I am vexed with Bank of America is an understatement! I have been a credit card holder with Bank of America for a couple of years now, never once have I been 30 days late on any of my cards that I hold with them. I purchased something with one of my cards in XXXX of 2023 due to rising inflation Ive been making my minimum payments due on time every month, XX/XX/2023 I made a payment of XXXX I was in the process of applying for a mortgage loan recently only to review my credit cards and notice that Bank of America thought it would be okay to lower my available credit limit from XXXX dollars to XXXX dollars, after bringing it to there attention I was told that it was because of my credit score, and Delinquent account. As stated above I have never been late on any of my credit cards and I have had a XXXX or more credit score for more than a year. Bank of America has deliberately reduced my credit limit causing my credit score to drop some XXXX points then when asked to setback my previous credit limit Im being pushed into a credit audit to see if I qualify for the credit limit that I was already approved for to begin with. Now Im being told they would have to do a credit pull to see if I qualify for a credit increase! This is clearly predatory behavior on Bank of Americas part this has put tremendous stress on me and my family due to the fact that I may have missed an opportunity to acquire a property that was soon to under contract. Bank of America has also not acted in good faith towards its consumer I would like for them to be held accountable for their actions.

Subissue: Reporting company used your report improperly
Consumer Complaint: Bank of America continues to report an account that I previously disputed. The account number # XXXX shows on my XXXX credit report as a charge off.Bank of America has received the tax benefit of the charge off, yet is still reporting it.A 1099 C means that the debt is distinguished. Some courts have found that it is unfair ( inequitable ) to allow a creditor to belatedly enforce an alleged debt after it has received a tax benefit which makes it unfair to allow the creditor to enforce it's claims against the debtor.Bank of America also took over {$14000.00} from my bank account ending in # XXXX, while the alleged debt was in dispute status.XXXX can not verify this debt, Therefore it should be removed immediately.
