Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: American Express Credit Card is violating my rights as well as their own terms and conditions. The scenario is as follows. I made two purchases for the same dollar amount from the same merchant XXXX. Both charges are for the same item in different sizes. I returned BOTH and have 2 separate receipts for each item returned where the merchant promised me a refund. The credits however failed to materialize on my Amex credit card account for both charges, where only ONE of the charges was actually credited to my account not two. I proceeded to dispute the case with my bank, American Express, and for months on end they have refused to credit me despite me providing PROOF of both returns. This isnt a case of he said she said, its a clear cut case where I do not have the merchandise since the merchant already ACCEPTED it back and promised a refund. I tried to go to the merchant which is a huge company and the clerks do not have the power to help me since they already processed the refund on their end. Additionally the merchant later on states that I return too many items and they do not want to help me further to get the money back from Amex. They are not required to accept my return but they ARE required to refund me in the event that they do accept the return as in this case so where is my money. Regardless, Amex is the bank and they are the ones who have access to my money which is rightfully owed to me as proven by my receipts. Amex however, refuses to give me my money back dragging this along for months spitting back generic robotic communications as to why they will not refund me. Sometimes they even brush me off saying that I already was refunded. This is absurd as I explained to them so clearly that I was refunded only once but not twice as I am supposed to be. Again this is a violation of my rights as I provided clear proof from the merchant that owes me the money based on returning both items. ( I might add that the worst part of this ordeal is how Amex completely disregards me as a customer dragging this on for months and not even communicating with me. Rather they just close the case after several weeks of no communication with a generic response often robotic ). The amount in question is {$3400.00} This is an ongoing case since XX/XX/2023. I have attached both receipts showing 2 separate invoices for credit. I am due still one more credit.

Consumer Complaint: I received an American Express Reward Card with the amount of {$21.00}. I am unable to use this ANYWHERE, despite the company saying it should be able to be used EVERYWHERE. Every single time I try to use this card it is decline/says invalid. My purchase attempts are under the available balance, so that should not be a problem. I double checked that the card is activated. Whether I try to use it online, in the store, it doesn't matter. Nothing works. The company just basically says keep trying until you find somewhere it will work. I have tried XXXX, XXXX, XXXX no luck. Tried loading to XXXX XXXX no luck. Nothing works with this card, it is basically a scam to hold your money.

Consumer Complaint: My company gave me 2 American Express virtual gift cards in the amount of {$100.00} each. Every time I try to use the gift cards to make online purchases, the card is declined. The purchases Im attempting to make do not exceed the available funds on the gift card. I have also verified the balances of these cards multiple times, so I know the funds are there. Additionally Ive tried multiple online vendors with no luck. The American Express gift card website suggests adding the card to XXXX XXXX - I have attempted doing this multiple times and consistently get an error message. These gift cards are absolutely useless, and whats worse, I had to pay taxes on this money that I cant use anywhere.

Consumer Complaint: To the Appropriate Officials, On behalf of XXXX XXXX, the juridical principal debtor, I, as a non-juridical representative, draft this grievance, resonating with genuine concern. The Longstanding Bond : Tracing back to XXXX, XXXX XXXX 's affiliation with American Express has been unbroken. This provokes the query : What prompts this complaint at this juncture? A Tale of Two Narratives : Theres an evident disparity between the narrative spun by American Express 's responses and our initial assertions. This gap pushes us to seek a higher avenue of redress. Reflecting on the Past : Earlier grievances seem to have been prematurely archived without directly addressing the pivotal matters. Such oversight nudges us to take this intensified approach. Navigating the Fog : Our endeavors for straightforward communication with American Express 's divisions often find us amidst murkiness, opposing our intentions for clear discourse. Enclosures : The documents attached serve as a beacon, illuminating our areas of concern. A Call for Action : I implore the CFPB to delve into this matter, seeking a transparent and equitable resolution. As an additional measure for transparency and to underscore the gravity of this matter, a hard copy of the pertinent attachments has been dispatched via certified mail. XXXX ( non juridical )

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to file a formal complaint against American Express regarding their handling of a dispute I initiated on XX/XX/2023. This complaint pertains to American Express 's failure to address and resolve inaccuracies in the way they are reporting one of my accounts on my credit report. On XX/XX/2023, I sent a dispute letter to American Express, challenging the way they have listed an account on my credit report. As per the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), it is imperative that an account reported on a consumer 's credit report is 100 % accurate, verifiable, and complete. In my dispute letter, I specifically raised concerns about the following discrepancies : -High Credit Amount on XXXX : American Express reported a high credit amount of {$16000.00} on XXXX, which appears to be inaccurate or inconsistent with the account 's history. -Credit Limit on XXXX : American Express reported a credit limit of {$13000.00} on XXXX, which may not align with the actual terms of the account. -Missing Payment History : American Express did not report any payment history for this account on any of the credit bureaus. While I diligently raised these issues with American Express through my dispute letter, I have not received any response or resolution from them to date. Despite my attempts to rectify the inaccuracies, the reporting on this account remains inconsistent and incomplete between the different credit bureaus, which adversely impacts my credit standing.
