Consumer Complaint: AMEX put a debit on my personal AMEX card on XX/XX/XXXX for {$1000.00}. According to AMEX this was for a balance transfer of {$1000.00} to another of my AMEX accounts. This was totally incorrect. The credit balance was transferred to another of my accounts but it had nothing to do with this account. I had a negative balance on another account which was transferred properly ; however, it had NOTHING to do with this account. In addition, after my 5th phone call about this issue to AMEX, a supervisor ( who was supposed to be firing my problem ) actually put a 2nd debit on my card for $ XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. Therefore, now AMEX owes my $ XXXX now instead of just $ XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I have XXXX XXXX AmEx gift cards that don't work for any online purchases or bill pay. It's ridiculous that I can't use these cards online when 99 % of my purchases and bill pay are done online and all my information is correct to balance the gift card information and me as the payor. Why can't I use these cards to pay my own bills?? They don't work at stores online or bill paying and no one at Amex can explain why. I'm requesting the funds on my XXXX AmEx gift cards be issued to me via a check as I'm tired of trying to jump through hoop after hoop to use these cards. Is this how they get people to not use the cards so they can keep the funds? That's WRONG!

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I was charged {$2500.00} and {$4500.00} from a merchant called XXXX XXXX XXXX. I had my physical card so it had to have been charged through manual entry. I did not see the charges until the following day and immediately called American Express at XXXX on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX to figure out the best course of action. I understood it to be filing a dispute on the charges so that is the action I took. I also attempted to contact the merchant, but there is no contact information on their website and the contact information I was able to access through the AMEX app was directly to North Carolina XXXX XXXX XXXX, and not the merchant. I live far from North Carolina. I asked the customer representatives of AMEX if I needed to provide anything and they told me there was nothing I needed to do besides to wait to hear from them. After filing the dispute, I was given a credit for the amount and American Express closed the dispute. On XX/XX/XXXX, American Express reopened the dispute and charged me for both transactions. I did not see this until the night of XX/XX/XXXX when I received a message that I spent over my {$8000.00} credit limit, something I never get close to. I called American Express at XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to a representative. At this point, they informed me that the merchant provided documents showing that I purchased the product and used it, and that I need to reopen the dispute and provide documentation. At this time, I felt misguided because I could have provided documentation from the beginning, but was told there was nothing I needed to do other than filing the dispute. I then looked deeper into everything and found documents. I made a purchase from XXXX XXXX XXXX back in XX/XX/XXXXXXXX which I assume is how they were able to access all of my information and use it to make it look like I made another purchase. I provided all documentation showing this and that I had no access to the alleged products the merchant claimed I used. One of the documents included one of the merchants products being nothing other than posts about XXXX XXXX and links to scams. After this, American Express is still siding with the merchant and claiming I am responsible for the charges. I escalated the issue to the fraud department on XX/XX/XXXX which seems to be what I should have done from the start. That is still in process.
