Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: Since I been with Ally Financial I have tried to lower the payments and the late fees are over $ XXXX {$200.00} dollars. Recently I lost a job but borrowed money to pay 3 months payment. They said that once I got caught up I was eligible to put 2 payments at the end of the loan term. I called after making the 3 month payment and they said I was not eligible to put 2 payments at the end of term. Ask to speak with a manager who said the same thing. There is no help from these cruel people who lie about helping people keep their car in difficult times. No help with reduced payments as well. I have never had any financial organization that treats the consumers this way.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Problem accessing account

Consumer Complaint: I have accounts at Ally Bank. On XX/XX/2023 I attempted to create online access to my account at Ally Bank but the system revealed that some other individual has already created online access for my account tied to an unknown phone number. I called Ally Bank and they refused to authenticate me and grant me access to my account. They claimed a Specialist will call me. They refused to tell me what number the Specialist will call me at, whether it is my actual phone number or the unknown phone number of the some other individual who is not me who has already tied up online access to my account. I demand access to my account.

Issue: Problem with a company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Problem with personal statement of dispute

Consumer Complaint: I contacted Ally Financial on XX/XX/XXXX once I realized getting the full payment of {$1100.00} in prior to the 30day was going to be difficult. After going through all the necessary steps with Ally, I was advised by the rep that I was approved for a deferral and my payment will be extended. I had 10 days from XX/XX/XXXX to make a payment of {$710.00} to finalize the extension. I made this payment on XXXX within the 10days. At no point was I advised that a late payment submission to the credit bureau will still be made if paid after the 30days from XX/XX/XXXX. Again, it was stated my payment was extended. If the payment still needed to be submitted prior to end month, then this should have been made clear to me at the time of the deferral call. I would have tried everything to get that {$710.00} in prior to XX/XX/XXXX. Even in the agreement document with Ally, this information is not clearly provided. My credit score has been grossly impacted negatively. Clear information regarding payment to avoid credit hit should have been apart of the deferral conversation and agreement. Advising a customer the payment is extended and still submitting a late payment to their credit report is counterintuitive. Being head of household mother of XXXX children this has a major negative impact.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Funds not handled or disbursed as instructed

Consumer Complaint: I initiated a transfer of {$10000.00} through XXXX XXXX to pull the funds from my Ally Bank savings account and deposit them in my XXXX XXXX account. This was executed on XX/XX/23 and I can see the funds were withdrawn from my Ally account. XXXX XXXX rejected these funds ( after speaking with their customer service it was suspected fraud which is why they rejected it I am being told ) on XX/XX/23 which I received an email for. I was informed through that email these funds should settle back with Ally Bank in 3-5 business days. It has now been 23 days since the initial transfer and the funds are at neither bank and thus have effectively disappeared. I spoke to both banks several times and multiple times they both told me they could not help and that it was the responsibility of the other bank. After numerous attempts, Ally agreed to open a " dispute '' which they said would be handled in 10 days. I still have {$10000.00} that is unaccounted for and not moved back to the Ally bank account. I am very concerned about this as Ally has not inspired confidence in returning my funds and this is a significant amount of money for me. I have greater concerns that a transfer between banks, which should be a common financial transaction, could go missing like this without the bank being able to quickly resolve through automated processes.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Banking errors

Consumer Complaint: I had made a purchase with my Ally card for XXXX, and then canceled the order with the merchant. For some reason ally decides to take that money twice and my balance goes negative. Now, I get my refund, but my balance shows around XXXX but my available balance is only around XXXX dollars. Also that extra pending charge is still on there. Customer support has been completely unhelpful giving the same automated responses and not resolving my issue. They are holding my money for no reason.
