Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I have a spousal consolidation direct student loan and am divorced from the co-maker. I am listed as qualified for the PSLF with 20+ more qualified payments than required FedLoan services the loan and has been been contacted and been unresponsive for months. My portion of the loans have not been forgiven despite my legal right to have this done under current non-waiver rules for spousal consolidation direct student loans, per the FAQ on the Dept of Ed student aid website. I can not get my case reviewed or updated by FedLoan. It is outrageous that I can not get my loans forgiven almost 2 years after qualifying. It is also outrageous that when they are forgiven, I will still have to continue paying my ex-husbands student loan debt off AND have his loans continue to be posted to my credit history. This is unfair and unreasonable. I am not the only person in this situation, and many are in an even worse situation with abusive or uncooperative spouses or ex-spouses who are loan co-makers. Please help us.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX, I matriculated into a doctoral program, and I subsequently graduated in XXXX. The program provided a solid education, but they used many unethical administrative practices that continue to impact my career, my finances, and my health. I worked very hard to develop a meaningful career, and secured a position with the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXX, in New York XXXX. My salary has ranged from {$40000.00} per year to a high of {$60000.00} per year, now. My employer is an eligible employer under the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and I applied to the program as soon as my loans entered repayment, 10 years ago. Based on this alone, I should be ending my payment period. My loan servicer, FedLoan, never completed the loan applications on their end. When I tried to follow up, I was run through phone calls, electronic portals, and circled through so many hoops that I paid at least three separate third party agencies to help me over the years. I received a refund check in the mail as a settlement when at least XXXX of the agencies was penalized for some type of fraud. Most recently, I used XXXX because my XXXX XXXX department endorsed them. Still, as of now, I am still not enrolled in the program and none of my service counts toward any forgiveness plan. Instead, I have been on continuous forbearances for the past 10 years. I am only now learning that it was illegal for FedLoan to have kept me on forbearance for the past 10 years. Meanwhile, interest is accruing. The biggest problem that I have with having been on forbearance for 10 years and not receiving any service credits is that I now have severe autoimmune disorders and am physically XXXX due to XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, and XXXX XXXX ( none of these XXXX qualify for your loan forgiveness program despite their severe and obvious impact on my life and finances ). I will inevitably be forced out of the workplace soon due to these disorders. Currently, my direct supervisor is allowing me to work from home and at a reduced schedule so as not to force me onto social security XXXX, but he can not be there forever. If my PSLF forms were managed and I were part of the program as I deserved to be I would be able to retire now, and not be forced to worry about having entirely unpaid loans and their accrued interest. Most recently, FedLoan was compelled to revisit my claims and those of others in a legal action People of the State of New York XXXX Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, d/b/a Fedloan Servicing and American XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( ER ) ( S.D.N.Y ). In order to be included in the review, they say that I was supposed to return a claim form to them. They have just notified me that they never received my claim form. To be clear, I never received a claim form from them. My husband received a blank claim form from them, and I photo copied the blank form for my own submission. No form ever came in my name, but I submitted a completed form, anyway. Both my and my husbands forms were sent in together, in separate envelops, and his was received and processed. Mine was not. At the time that I mailed my form, I mailed it because I was unable to upload any documents into my electronic portal. I had called FedLoan to address the form and portal issues at that time, but was unable to reach anyone and my calls were dropped from hold. The electronic portal had been non-functional until I tried it today, XX/XX/XXXX. To date, no one has ever gotten back to me from FedLoan. After 12 years of employment, and {$250000.00} in loans, not a single payment made was counted toward forgiveness. When I had difficulty making payments, I was put into forbearances, and have remained in forbearance for almost all of the 10 years. When I asked about solutions or buy-backs, I was put through federal education department portals and told someone would help me. No one ever did. At this point, my hopes in writing to you is that you may be able to push for my review under People of the State of New York v. Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, d/b/a Fedloan Servicing and American Education Services , Case No XXXX XXXX ( ER ) ( S.D.N.Y ) and make sure that my claim is not lost or turned away. Perhaps you can have someone contact FedLoan or point me to an outside oversight agency that will work with me to resolve the issue with my loan forgiveness. My grandmother always said that speaking out is important. I feel as though I need to speak loudly now.

Consumer Complaint: According to XXXX I have 7 late payments for my student loans accounts open back in XXXX. It was reported on my credit as late payments when I was actually in forbearance on my loans for the year and months the late payment was reported. As of XXXX my loans are deferred because I am still currently in school. I called both the department of education and AES and opened up disputes for inaccurately reporting those late payments. Both loan servicing companies informed me that this sometimes happen because the forbearance take a while from the time its issued from the time its reported resulting in a late payment status which is drastically affecting my credit score.

Consumer Complaint: I requested a refund, through Fedloan servicing, for monies paid during the CARES Act postponement. They responded stating that " After further review records show a refund was issued to your bank account on file on XX/XX/2022. If you have not received the monies we would recommend contacting your financial institution. " On XX/XX/2022 explained that my bank does not have a record of this deposit with any of my accounts. I also think I would notice a deposit of {$11000.00}. I requested they tell me where they sent this money to, as it was not to any of my bank accounts. I have not had a response. The loans were serviced through XXXX at the time I was making these payments, please see previous complaint # XXXX. The response to this complaint was to go through Fedloan servicing which I already attempted. Please assist.

Consumer Complaint: AES has absolutely been the worst company I have ever had to deal with ever. I started getting letters about them being my new student loan servicer. Never once did they say they were taking over servicing of my XXXX loans. As such I was confused when I started getting calls that my loans were past due since the CARES act was still in force and these should have been covered. I called AES to figure this out and was given the runaround by an agent and left more confused than satisfied. She never once told me that these were XXXX loans not subject to the act, she just kept saying they don't apply. I had to figure everything out on my own and once I got the loan current online. Then to my surprise today I got an alert from XXXX stating that my credit just took a huge dump because AES put 3 alerts on my report that my loans were over 30 days past due. I called again and asked what the deal was. The agent claimed that the reporting took place at the end of XXXX and he's not sure why I just got an alert today and why there were 3 separate past due reports. Ridiculous. XXXX never once reported negative information. In this day and age with such a low dollar loan it is flabbergasting that a company with a brand new relationship with me would go out of their way to report negative information to the bureaus. Especially after the unfair and deceptive calls I had with them and letters I received. AES should be put out of business.

Consumer Complaint: Dear Madam or Sir, I am a XXXX veteran, XXXX XXXX in XXXX. I am a XXXX XXXX who volunteered in two counties near my home during the COVID crisis. I am also a holder of significant graduate loans that were held by FedLoans until recently. I wrote to The Office of the Ombudsman for Student Loans after reading an article outlining how many borrowers had wrongly been steered toward forbearance instead of XXXX dollar options on their programs. I was one of those borrowers. I had periods of unemployment and was regularly directed toward forbearance by FedLoan representative, which resulted in XXXX of dollars that I had to pay to interest/compound interest and that was not applied to my loan, thereby creating more interest on the principal held. I sent the letter, return receipt, in XX/XX/XXXX. The letter was received XX/XX/XXXX. I did not hear back as of last week and started making calls. I was transferred multiple times to people who could not help. A helpful agent named XXXX XXXX, in Kentucky, took my number and assigned me a case number # XXXX. Today, I got an email from XXXX, my new student loan holder. They've held my loans for less than 5 months and none of my payment history is on their site. I've looked back at FedLoans and none of my history is on their site. I am concerned that, like millions of other borrowers who signed on to programs that were mismanaged, I will not see the result of my diligence and the XXXX figures I've paid on my loans. I would appreciate your assistance in this matter. Very Respectfully, XXXX. XXXX Veteran, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I filed Feedback Case # XXXX Federal Student Aid, and I have uploaded payment records multiple times to My Fed Loan. I am seeking credit for XXXX payments under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Waiver ( I currently need only a few more payments to qualify for forgiveness ). I uploaded proof of payment from AES : I uploaded my full payment history from AES, showing the payments made in XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX. I still have not received credit for these payments. I have been in almost daily contact with Fed Loan Servicing since XXXX of this year, and I filed my complaint with Federal Student Aid on XX/XX/XXXX, and I have had no communication, and the case still says " in review. '' I also provided information showing that if my account shows as " in forbearance '' it was because that was during consolidation, so I should receive credit for that payment. I have a job offer, and I need credit for these payments, so I can have an accurate payment count for forgiveness, in order to accept the new job offer. I am more than happy to submit any of these documents for review. Thank you for any help you may be able to offer.

Consumer Complaint: I qualified for PSLF through 120 payments as of XX/XX/2022. I submitted my PSLF application for forgiveness on XX/XX/2022 and I received a response from FedLoan Servicing saying they would process my application in 30-90 days. It has been over 90 days with no response from FedLoans. I have called 4 times but the call disconnects whenever customer service attempts to transfer me to a PSLF specialist. The FedLoans website no longer says that my PSLF application is being assessed but I have no new payment counts or updates from FedLoans.

Consumer Complaint: Good Afternoon. After the complaint placed on XXXX and many phone calls and being on hold today for 2 and half hours with Fed Loan, I have decided to do another complaint. So Fed Loan did upgraded my account to 96 counted payments, but omitted payments that were made on XXXX and XXXX! When I contacted Fed Loan and Spoke to XXXX ID # XXXX she stated that XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) is responsible for the miscounted and erroneous information! On XX/XX/XXXX at exactly XXXX p.m., I received a call from XXXX length of call `12 minutes and 14 secs from Fed Loan " specialist ''. The lady was clueless and kept blaming XXXX. Both of the workers from Fed Loan who are labeled as specialist blamed XXXX and stated that my payments, files and information will be send to XXXX for " Payment Count Review '' ... XXXX XXXX also stated that there was a " Payment Count Review '' placed on XX/XX/XXXX! Mind you, I spoke to the Loan Specialist On Monday, XX/XX/XXXX ( so she took ONE WEEK ) to forward the information to XXXX to review counts. Today is XXXX XXXX and NOTHING has been done! I received the same response, We will send information to XXXX for " count review '' ... .Mind you the newly consolidated loans that I have been screenshooting photos of in XXXX are being fully counted and FORGIVEN!!! Why there is not lack of due process is beyond my understanding. To make matter worse, I also received an email on Thursday XXXX XXXX about FED Loan transferring my loans to XXXX XXXX They have time to email, but can't basically count correctly! On a positive note, my counts went up to 94 payments, but unfortunately year XXXX and XXXX were skipped! How does this happens? I do not know, but I want this address. I have been with FED Loan under their consolidation for years and it infuriates me to see newly consolidated loans being forgiven and my account continues to be handle poorly!!! j
