Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: Based on prior conversations and information posted on the FedLoan Servicing website, I was advised that consolidation of Direct Consolidation student loans and Direct Parent Plus loans would result in resetting the PSLF qualifying payment count to zero. On XX/XX/XXXX I submitted a PSLF application without consolidating my two Direct Consolidation loans with my Direct Parent Plus loans. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter stating that I was not eligible yet to receive forgiveness. A representative from FedLoan Servicing informed me that the payment count was not reflecting the Limited PSLF waiver update and also advised me not to consolidate the Direct Consolidation loans with the Direct Parent Plus loans. On XX/XX/XXXX I received forgiveness on the two Direct Consolidation loans. On XX/XX/XXXX, the Department of Education posted on their studentaid.gov website the following information : " Under the limited waiver your consolidation loans will receive credit for time in repayment on your loans with different counts. Your consolidation loan will be credited with at least the largest number of payments on the loans that were consolidated. '' Shortly after XX/XX/XXXX, it was confirmed by a consolidation specialist at FedLoan Servicing that I would have received forgiveness on all on my loans had I consolidated prior to submitting the PSLF application.

Consumer Complaint: I submitted my PSLF application with ECFs in XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from FedLoan Services stating, The charts above display the total number of eligible and qualifying payments you have made ( out of the required XXXX ) on your eligible loans for PSLF and TEPSLF, including any periods we have assessed as eligible or qualifying under the Limited PSLF Waiver. It is clear that the Limited PSLF Waiver was NOT applied as stated. The verbiage in FedLoan correspondence- in this particular letter and with past communication- is erroneous, confusing, and disheartening. Thank you for your time and assistance in rectifying this matter.

Consumer Complaint: I received an email from the Dept. of Education stating that the PSLF had been expanded and that I didnt need to do anything but that my payments toward forgiveness of my loans would increase by at least 33 payments according to their records. They suggested I send in a certification of employment to ensure all of my counts were updated. I submitted everything they requested. When I received my letter, it shows that my payment counts increased only by the employment verification that I submitted. My previous 33+ payments have never been updated.

Consumer Complaint: I submitted a consolidation application for my Direct loans so that I would get payment counts increased from payments made from XXXX under the PSLF waiver. I nearly backed out of my consolidation as a result of the letter I received on XX/XX/XXXX saying that I would lose credit for the nearly 70 payments I already had ( without the additional 4 years of payments that will be added with the waiver ) toward PSLF. I still went through with the consolidation but my payment counts have still not been updated. ( FedLoan is the loan company. ) My previously approved employer still hasn't been updated either but I believe that is through the FSA but FedLoan will not review my PSLF application without the employer being approved ( even though my employer has been approved for the last 3 years. ) Ironically, they have the auxiliary department ( non-profit arm of the hospital ) approved in the help tool but not the actual hospital which is city-owned. Once these payments are counted, I will be very near forgiveness if not completely forgiven. I submitted ECF forms in XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and none have been processed.

Consumer Complaint: On Monday XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter in the mail from American Education Services regarding a delinquent private student loan debt. I created an account online to view further information on Wednesday XX/XX/XXXX to view more account information, as I have never received any information about this loan prior to XX/XX/XXXX. I called American Education Services and spoke to a representative named XXXX. XXXX kept referring to the lender, and I had to ask him who the lender was, as I was never informed. Apparently the lender is XXXX XXXX, formerly XXXX XXXX XXXX, who had issued me a private student loan of {$36000.00} in XXXX, and had never billed me or sent information regarding repayment of my student loan. After telling me that I have absolutely no options to rehabilitate the loan except to pay {$41000.00} in late payments and that the loan is currently in process of defaulting, I asked XXXX why AES or XXXX has never sent me any billing statements or notices regarding my debt prior to this letter received on XX/XX/XXXX. He looked into my account information and verbally agreed that neither AES nor XXXX XXXX has ever sent me or the endorser any kind of billing statements. XXXX offered to submit a lender review, but told me theres no guarantee XXXX will do anything about it. I attempted to find legitimate contact information for XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and the website XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX doesnt exist, and when I attempted to call their telephone number listed as ( XXXX ) XXXX, it only gives a busy signal. I am absolutely sickened and enraged by this, and am completely convinced this was a purposeful scam of behalf of both XXXX XXXX and/or American Education Services XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I consolidated my loans in 2015 with Fed Loan Servicing from Direct Loans to start the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Process. With the new temporary waiver I asked for consideration..they said they reviewed my account and they did not. None of the payments I made to Direct Loans are being counted toward my payments as they should be now. Also now according to the waiver payments made durinf teacher forgiveness should count. They have not.

Consumer Complaint: I am currently going through the PSLF process. I have received numerous letters stating that if I consolidate, Ill lose all my qualifying payments ; that my case is closed- despite having no previous payments prior to XXXX counted ( I have payments since XXXX ) ; paperwork that is causing so much frustration, confusion and stress. The letters they send are completely inaccurate according to the XXXX website. Fedloan needs to stop sending false information to customers.

Consumer Complaint: My loans started in XXXX with XXXX XXXX and were transferred to XXXX in XXXX. In XXXX I had a default history but the loans were rehabilitated in XXXX and sold to XXXX. Due to the fact I am enrolled in PSLF, my loans were transferred to Fed Loan in XX/XX/XXXX. I requested a FOIA from DOE to obtain my loan history from XXXX XXXX and XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. I just received the loan history and is missing all the data from XXXX XXXX and XXXX also FED LOAN has me listed as rehabilitation forberance from XXXX, which is completely wrong. This can impact my loan history and potential forgiveness. Please assist me, My complains are both to the DOE for not having accurate information and FED LOAN for not giving the correct information. Please help.
