Consumer Complaint: USAA has been intentionally deceiving consumers with their website and mobile app. They set up a draft from an account which was supposed to be changed ages ago and never was. They intentionally left the draft in place and did not switch to my new bank. It creates the look that the loan was being paid but it was not. The loan amount reverses the charge and creates both a late fee and a penalty in an account that is supposed to be dead. This is to the amount of $ XXXX/month extra!! The mobile app is set up in such a confusing manner that I did not see this until I really started to investigate on the computer. Their mobile app also does not function. There are error codes ( I have screen shots ) that do not allow payment at times. This is also intentional and designed to layer their pockets at the cost of the consumer. These complaints are with the home loans as well as the auto lending and are all over the web and their own site.

Issue: Problems caused by my funds being low
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: I 've been a member of USAA since I was a XXXX in 1988. I started banking with USAA about 5 years ago. My complaint is they charge {$25.00} overdraft fees even though I had sufficient funds available the day the transactions posted and were recorded on my on-line bank statement. I had XXXX OD fees of {$25.00} each charged in XX/XX/XXXX for transactions as low as {$3.00} and no more than {$37.00} and it was only a matter of hours before funds were available as deposits arrived the same day the fees posted on my account. This is a gross example of loan sharking. Transactions are authorized, posted and cleared in a manner that favors the banks and hurts the consumer and makes the bank money via fees. They should n't be allowed to charge {$25.00} to loan {$3.00} for a few hours. This is predatory lending at its worst.

Consumer Complaint: I am XXXX XXXX XXXX that works for a company that helps victims of ID Theft to clear up fraudulent matters. I obtain a Limited Power of Attorney in order to help these vicitims clear up fraudulent matters. I disputed an account last year with USAA for one of my members. We were advised last year the account was cleared. This year it got sent to collections. After spending more than three hours on the phone USAA advised today the account was in a charge off status not a fraud status. I tried to work with the fraud department today to see if we could get the status corrected. USAA could verify my POA On file, but insistied they would not talk to me unless I provided my PERSONAL social security number and date of birth for verification purposes. I told them I was not related to the member, this was n't my account and for security purposes I was not comfortable giving them my social. They said I had to, so I made up a number and told them I was doing so. Then they tell me they have access to background information and the number did not come back as valid and they would not talk to me. I never authorized them to check background information on me. I never authorized anything. I cant believe for security reasons a fraud department is asking for social security number of PROFESSIONALS not financially obligated to the account. This needs to be stopped and now we ca n't resolve a fraudulent account which is against FAIR DEBT COLLECTION Practices and their regulations because I wo n't give my social. The client, is hard of hearing and ca n't speak. HIs wife, handles all the financial affairs. They wont talk to her either. The member signed a power of attorney so that I could help him and I cant. I went to XXXX at USAA dept supervisor and she refused to find a different way to resolve this.

Consumer Complaint: USAA Federal Savings Bank ( hereinafter referenced as " USAA '' ) charged-off my mortgage debt subsequent to my ex-wife filing for Chapter XXXX bankruptcy protection. I did not file for bankruptcy protection and through my ex-wife refused to reaffirm the debt in question, I am still a valid consumer who has made timely and fully payments since the inception of the debt. USAA is likely the servicer for a securitizied mortgage debt. They are currently reporting the debt as charged-off on my public credit record and causing great financial harm. While USAA may have " charged-off '' the debt, they did so unlawfully as I am a borrower who has made timely and full payments and my financial liability has not been resolved by a bankruptcy petition. Because I believe USAA to be a servicer, I believe they have violated several provisions of the FDCPA. Moreover, because they are wantonly and willfully slandering my credit record I believe they are violating the FCRA.

Consumer Complaint: USAA offered a promotional balance transfer for 0 % for 12 months with XXXX transfer fee. The problems come with the way they are applying my payments. They are applying my payments only to previous statement charges. I made payments for new charges, but they applied them to my 0 % balance transfer balance from my previous statement instead of applying it to new purchases that were accruing interest, lowering my 0 % balance. Is this legal?

Consumer Complaint: I received a teller check from a credit union and deposited into my checking account inside the main branch of USAA in XXXX XXXX, Texas. The teller took the check and completed the deposit and said nothing about a hold on the deposit. On the deposit slip it shows my account balance and the amount of the deposit. It does not mention a hold on the funds. I then left the bank and checked my funds on USAA app and it showed the amount deposited was available. The amount was XXXX and my balance on the app reflected that amount. Two business days later I went back to the main branch of USAA and just before entering the bank I double checked my balance on the app and noticed that there was now a XXXX hold on my account. I went inside and went straight to the teller hoping there was a mistake on my account but when I tried to purchase a cashier 's check the teller confirmed that my checking account indeed was on hold for XXXX. I asked if I can discuss this matter with management and she directed me to an enclosed booth where there was a computer and a telephone and was told to dial zero and ask for a manager in the deposit department. I did so and held for about 2 minutes and a representative answer the phone and asked what he could help me with. I explained the situation and asked if there was anything that could be done to release my funds. The answer was no and that it was unclear on when the funds would be made available. I asked to speak with a manager so he transferred the call and I was placed on hold for about 5 minutes. Long story short the same answer was given by a manager " no '' and adding insult to injury she stated that my creditability with them was in question because of a previous over draft in the last 6 months. I left very upset and frustrated with the entire situation. I also called one more time the following business day and the exact same answer. No ... Please consider this fact. This was a preprinted teller check from a credit union and that when purchased originally by the payee was told that it 's the same as a cashier 's check. Now I have to wait 10 business days. Why? Why could n't USAA physically pick up the phone and verify funds or tell me from the beginning there was going to be a 10 day hold. I would have cashed the check elsewhere and been able accomplish what I needed to. Now I 'm on hold and it put me behind on what I needed to take care of.
