Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low

Subissue: Overdrafts and overdraft fees

Consumer Complaint: I had multiple deposits made into my US Bank checking account, including {$710.00} on XX/XX/XXXX, {$290.00} on XX/XX/XXXX, and {$210.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. The receipts confirming the dates and amounts can be provided upon request. I made a payment to my XXXX credit card from the same US Bank checking account in the amount of {$170.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. US Bank fraudulently changed the order of these transactions in a way that made my account appear overdrafted when it was not : They posted the XXXX credit card payment on XX/XX/XXXX, and all XXXX deposits on XX/XX/XXXX. Then they assessed a {$36.00} overdraft fee. I called US Bank on XX/XX/XXXX to request that the overdraft fee is removed because no overdraft has occured. The representative was evasive and uncooperative, claiming that they received a " notification '' about my payments " after XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX ''. Despite my explanation that they were in posession of my deposits for days before the disputed overdraft took place, the rep refused to consider a refund of the overdraft fee.

Issue: Closing an account

Subissue: Company closed your account

Consumer Complaint: I closed an account in XXXX possibly XXXX. Either way, the closed account does not show on US banks end. I called and confirmed and they do not appear on US banks end as a closed account and records are not available for retrieval however they show a debit and atm card which is an indicator that clearly there was a checking and savings account at their firm. I called the first time and explained. The lady mentioned she would reach out to IT dept. She left me on hold for 10 to 20 minutes and the line disconnected. I did not receive a call back. I called again. Informed the second lady that someone is fraudulently calling in and having my info removed plus posing as my POA in which i did not have one. Informed her I had to disconnect and to call me if she has a solution.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Fee problem

Consumer Complaint: My purse was stolen on XXXX at XXXX with my checkbook. ( police report filed ) I called US bank around XXXX and the rep. helped me close checking account. She also had me list upcoming ACH debits. I listed XXXX 's {$190.00} expected on XX/XX/XXXX. She said US Bank would process that payment. Unfortunately, on XX/XX/XXXX I received an email from XXXX, the account was past due- the payment was returned by US Bank XXXX If I had known the info., given to me by a US Bank rep., on the phone on XXXX was incorrect I would have made an alternate payment arrangement for my XXXX card. This return payment resulted in a {$29.00} return fee & {$1.00} interest = {$30.00} on my account. I paid the past due immediately on XX/XX/XXXX and disputed the fees with rep & then a manager ; he refused to reverse. He said it was US Bank 's responsibility to credit my account for {$30.00}. I then called US Bank and and explained XXXX 's position. The US Bank rep said they would send a letter to XXXX explaining their position and request reversal of fee. It was not US Banks responsibility to pay XXXX 's return fee. I have not received a letter, so I called US Bank again today XXXX and they said once I receive the letter I should present it to XXXX They would not credit my account for {$30.00}. I have been a valued customer for both multi billion dollar Corporations for over 30 years, but XXXX XXXX US Bank state they will not reimburse me for fees charged of {$30.00} through reversal by XXXX XXXXr a courtesy credit by US Bank. I'm a fraud victim and did everything correctly. Please advise. Regards, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I went into the XXXX and XXXX branch to change my checking over to my revocable trust. The teller said I had to make an appointment for this. She made the appointment for me for the following day at XXXX. I showed up the next day at XXXX. The teller told me to wait in the lobby. I waited for XXXX minutes and no one came to help me. I got up and left. Why do I have to schedule my day around this nonsense? If banks are forcing appointments upon their customers, they should honor the appointments they make. This is for the XXXX XXXX XXXX branch in XXXX CA.

Issue: Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I have an existing HELOC with U.S. Bank for roughly {$170000.00}. Today, I called the bank to discuss a cash-out refinance to consolidate the HELOC and was told by XXXX XXXX XXXX of the XXXX branch XXXX that I was not allowed to apply and that U.S. Bank did not want my business. XXXX XXXX stated the reasons as being because they allege I am charged with a felony ( I am not ) and because I only maintain a {$70.00} balance in my account. I keep very little money in my U.S. Bank account... but that's only because XXXX offers much better terms. U.S. Bank is still making tens of thousands of dollars from me with the closing costs of the HELOC and the $ 560 monthly interest payments made every month. Their refusal to even permit me to APPLY for to refinance a product they sold me is discriminatory and is causing me unnecessary financial harm. I only took out the HELOC on the promise that I could consolidate and refinance. That is fraud in the inducement of contract. They sold me on taking out the HELOC and then refinancing it... now that they have the HELOC they are refusing to allow me to even apply for the refinancing.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Fee problem

Consumer Complaint: My husband and I have an account with US bank, along with my daughter who is a minor so my name is on the account. Theres been an overwhelming amount of overdraft fees on all our accounts even though our card is locked and we havent used the account. One day theres money in the account, we havent used our card as I said, the next thing theres all these overdraft charges on there. Weve talked to the bank and all theyll do is remove one of the fees. Its like hundreds of dollars at one time making our account hundreds of dollars overdrawn. My daughters and mine account ( its one account because shes a minor ) is almost {$200.00} dollars overdrawn and she hasnt even used it! These charges are breaking us!

Issue: Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I dealt with XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, and XXXX XXXX XXXX regarding an offer by US Bank to refinance my house mortgage. The communication with US Bank started in XXXX 2021 ; paperwork was sent by me to US Bank on XXXX XXXX, 2021, and a {$400.00} processing fee was extracted from my account by US Bank to complete the application form. However, since initial paperwork was completed, there has been no progress by US Bank. I have inquired multiple times to the above 3 names. About once a month I got requests from US Bank for updated bank statements and profit/loss statements, which I send them, and then I get no further communication from them. This happened 3-4 times, where I keep asking for updates and they do not appear to be processing my application, but they have taken my application fee. I believe they are misleading in that they have not processed the application at all and have no intention to do so. I lodged a complaint with CFPB, and they responded that they would refund {$390.00} towards my application fee. They did NOT do this, and instead sent a letter denying my application, claiming I failed to send them the very information I sent them XXXX times in a row!
