Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I received a series of letters from XXXX XXXX, Account Review Manager at US Bank indicating that they have selected to closed my personal and business credit cards. They have provided no reason for such an action. I have reached out to the company and their response is that they have the right to do so. I have asked for reasoning and rationale, and they have provided none. As they have cited XXXX separate accounts in a single review, referenced XXXX, the decision is not based on the activities of the account and the banking process, but related to the common point which is the owner of all accounts. As these series of actions is targeting me personally, I believe their action is racially motivated and is individually targeting me. In their letter they are referring to their Terms and Conditions, which allows them to close accounts for no reason. Though the Terms and Conditions allow for closing accounts for no reason, it does not allow them to close accounts for a reason and not provide that reason to the consumer. They are hiding behind their unjust Terms and Conditions that allows them to not provide any justification for their action, therefore, hiding behind the truth that their actions are unconstitutional. I like to have someone with legal authority look in to their action as I suspect there is an underlying company process that may unjustly affect many consumers. I have had a personal and business banking relationship with US Bank for over 30 years. If they are closing a 30 year relationship without providing a reason, it must be because they feel that providing the reason for selecting me would jeopardies their company and give me justification for legal action. Those who have nothing to hide, do not hide behind their bogus Terms and Conditions.

Consumer Complaint: I got a message that collection had been trying to serve me an I needed to call XXXX and mention case XXXX which I did and I was connected to XXXX XXXX at ext XXXX. He claime he was from XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX and referenced an old credit card debt, card number XXXX with an amount owed of XXXX and wanted me to pay or else he was going to file a judgement suit against me in my area for breach of contract. He then offered a settlement of XXXX which I told him I had no money Im fully XXXX. He then tried to get me to name an amount so I told him XXXX, I can pay nothing. He then told me he would be filing the case cause I disrespected him by offering XXXX payment. The call ended. I called him hours later and requested debt verification and last payment date an he said it would all be in the packet he was sending but it might be awhile. The call ended. I have since checked california XXXX XXXX and they never heard of him and neither has oregon XXXX XXXX. I XXXX his number and there are a few similar complaints, I have found out my card was closed in XXXX and debt sold several times. I havent made a payment since before the account was closed. There is nothing about it on my credit report, but the acct was my card.I have tried calling us bank several times and their collection department to get info. The first time they told me it was sold in XXXX and gave me a name of the buyer who is now out of business. They would not give me anything else and if I call they just put me on hold and leave me there till I hang up. Everything I could find online tells me it is a time barred debt and is past the statute of limitations and is not on my credit report which would make it illegal for them to try to prosecute me for it.

Consumer Complaint: I walked inside US Bank and spoke with the banking employee about opening a business checking account. I opened it with her and supplied the code for the {$300.00} bonus being offered. You had to make {$3000.00} in new deposits and keep the account open for 90 days to qualify. I deposited {$100.00} that day and ACHed the remaining {$2900.00} within the 30 days just as the employee instructed. I received an e-mail from US Bank saying I didn't qualify.??? Other people/businesses that I've been in contact with have received their bonuses with similar deposits.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, we attempted to use our Elan Financial Services credit card to pay our veterinarian approximately {$150.00}. Not only was the card declined but the vet told us that it was declined for potential fraud. The credit card company had suspended the card because of an attempted charge of {$39.00} for a recurring monthly service that the said " they didn't like '' on XX/XX/XXXX. I am livid that the card company froze our account over a charge for a recurring service that we have been using for at least 4 months. Even worse, the company reported " potential fraud '' to the vet. That is extremely embarrassing and bordering on libel.

Consumer Complaint: I booked a round trip flight reservation for my family in XX/XX/XXXX through the US Bank XXXX XXXX XXXX using points we had accrued using a US Bank credit card. The flight was for a trip taking place in XX/XX/XXXX. A few days before this trip was to take place, I tried to check our reservation to verify our familys seats, and I was surprised to find that our reservation could not be found using the airlines confirmation code. I called the US Bank XXXX XXXX XXXX and spent the next 3+ hours on the phone with the representative going back and forth with the airline. Apparently our outbound flight reservation was never confirmed and we lost our reservation. I was presented with options to be rebooked on a different flight with the same airline ( the original flight was apparently no longer available ) 3 times, and each time the representative came back to tell me those options were actually no longer available. So after 3 hours I was told my only viable option was to cancel the booking and get a refund. My family had already purchased theme park tickets, booked a hotel room, and a rental car for our trip so being without flights was a huge problem. They offered no other option such as rebooking on another airline at no cost, so we were stuck with booking a new roundtrip flight 3 days before departure at more than double the cost of what we originally paid in XX/XX/XXXX. We are looking to be reimbursed for the cost of the new trip in addition to a refund for the original booking, due to the error being no fault of our own. The US Bank representative I spoke to told me I would need to go through the airline rather than them, even though we made the reservation through US Bank.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I have opened an account with US Bank which was initially funded with {$200.00}. I have opened an account reacting to the {$300.00} bonus offer sent to me by the bank ( XXXX XXXXXXXX ) as the local branch in XXXX XXXX XXXX, IL refused to open it. I was told that this is online offer only and to get the bonus I must do it online. At the account opening I have explained that I work overseas and the payment for my work coming from XXXX will be in form of international wire. I was told that is acceptable as long as the payment is made for a payroll purpose ( which it was ). Subsequently I was provided with a US Bank routing info which was incorrect ( XXXX ) along with the XXXX XXXX which was incorrect as well which delayed the payment processing to more than 30 days funding scenario after account opening. I have had a conversation with person name XXXX who was a supervisor at the US Bank who informed me that the notes will be left on the account to explain the situation and bonus being provided after the {$3000.00} plus balance held for more than 30 days will be fulfilled. On XX/XX/XXXX I called as the bonus was not credited and found out that my account was not credited since the " international wire '' is not a direct deposit, contrary to what I was told at the account opening. Also the person assisting me, XXXX made a representation that she can address the issue of bonus right then when I called and after a while into the conversation it became an evident she lied to me as she was actually not qualified/authorized to address it. Question to the US Bank I have is this : 1 ) Why is the US Bancorp so unprofessional as to misrepresent the financial products requirements to obtain the bonus and when the funding requirement is actually met to deny it? 2 ) What does it say for the bank to send wrong routing/swift numbers to consumer and was it done on purpose to delay the funding of the account thus make it ineligible for the bonus? I think it is reprehensible that the US Bank is allowed to do business this way and the CFPB should investigate whether the issue is systemic thus warranting regulatory action. In my opinion it is.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Problem with fees
Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I received my XX/XX/XXXX statement from US BANK for my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ending in XXXX. The balance on this statement was {XXXX}. The due date to make a minimum payment of {XXXX} was XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I paid {XXXX}. This was the total balance on the US Bank XX/XX/XXXX statement. I have not made any purchases on this credit card since I paid off the {XXXX} balance. I thought that this credit card was paid in full so I never thought of reviewing my subsequent credit card statements. However, on my attached XX/XX/XXXX statement for my credit card ending in XXXX, the statement shows that the {XXXX} balance for my previous statement was paid with a payment of {XXXX} and US Bank added " Fees Charged '' in the amount of {XXXX}. US Bank represented on my XX/XX/XXXX statement that my balance was {XXXX}. Then, after I paid the outstanding balance in full, they added a {XXXX} charge to my account. To add insult to injury, these scammers started charging me interest and late fees on the fraudulent {XXXX} unspecified fee they added to my account that had a {XXXX} balance. After recently making a purchase using this US Bank Credit Card, ending in XXXX, I found out a few days later that my purchase was canceled. Today, when I looked at my US Bank credit Card statement, I saw that US Bank has been charging me the following fees each month : LATE FEE - PAYMENT DUE ON XX/XX/XXXX {XXXX} MINIMUM INTEREST CHARGE FEE {XXXX} As of XX/XX/XXXX, US Bank alleges that I have a {XXXX} balance on my account as a result of charging me late fees and interest charges on my credit card ending in XXXX that I paid off on XX/XX/XXXX. Although the amounts are not great here, I believe that US Bank has used these false and fraudulent charges to make a report to credit reporting agencies that has damaged my credit score, frozen my US Bank credit card ending in XXXX so that I can not make purchases. I didn't know that US Bank was making fales and fraudulent charges to my US Bank credit card ending in XXXX because I assumed that when I paid off the credit card with my XX/XX/XXXX {XXXX} payment there would not be any further charges made to my credit card account unless I made future purchases. On XX/XX/XXXX, I paid the false and fraudulent {XXXX} charges to stop US Bank from continuing to damage my credit. US Bank should refund my {XXXX}, remove any negative credit reports they have made to credit reporting agencies, and reinstate my purchase that was canceled as a result of their false and fraudulent charges to my US Bank credit card ending in XXXX. Finally, I have tried to contact US Bank by telephone. However, when I do I am put through a voice mail system asking for my credit card number. After I input my credit card number and listen to a message, I am sent to another part of their voice mail system where I have to enter my credit card number again. I am then told that I will be sent to an operator. When I finally get to an operator I am told they are closed. Also, the appropriate US Government consumer protection agency should investigate US Bank for this late fee/minimum interest charge scam that US Bank is engaging in. If you multiply the number of customers being defrauded by what I believe is a scam that may add up to millions of dollars being taken from consumers misled or lied to by US Bank.

During this call I was informed XXXX is not responsible for this benefit and that US Bank customer service would be able to help. Unfortunately nobody is taking accountability for this. I am attempting to reserve a hotel on their travel portal which is valued at $ XXXX {$330.00}, meaning I should be paying roughly XXXX points ; however everywhere is advertised as the cash equivalent value, not holding up to their end of what has been advertised.
