Consumer Complaint: I was contacted by this company claiming I owe a debt from XXXX, something that is not on my credit and hasnt been since at least XXXX which was as far back as my records went. I told them they needed to send me proof or some sort of verification of this debt to my via the mail and not to contact me again by phone. They have continued to use spoof calling to me and my family members leaving messages with no information, calling me a person of interest whatever that means, and every time I block one number they spoof a new one. They will call back to back to back when I decline the call. All the fake numbers they use lead back to portfolio recovery

Subissue: Indicated you were committing crime by not paying debt
Consumer Complaint: I contacted XXXX XXXX to see if I had a debt it was ruled as fraud due to id theft. I've asked portfolio recover to verify the debt, they only send bills. Nothing with my actual information just that someone used the bank acct/ credit card. I've disputed this 31 times every time I only get a bill to verify the debt. That just shows someone used the card but not that I opened the account. Portfolio recovery has used XXXX to contact myself, family members and inlaws. Stating if I don't pay the debt it can have an effect on my parents status in the USA ( both are citizens with XXXX names ) they pretended to be a law office, they pretended to be attorney 's. The lengths they go to collect debts is crazy even if they are fraud. No wonder they hace mass lawsuits

Issue: Took or threatened to take negative or legal action
Subissue: Threatened to sue you for very old debt
Consumer Complaint: I asked them to send me a break down of the debt owed, original signed contract between me and the credit card provider, any statements of the debt. My requests have been ignored and they ruined my credit. The debt they say I owe is over 15 years old and the judgement finally dropped off of my credit report and then I received a Notice from the Clerks Office of XXXX XXXX XXXX. I don't know if this is legit or if it's a scare tactic and when I looked up the attorney on a XXXX search his picture comes up as both and attorney for Portfolio Recovery AND a XXXX which made it even more suspicious.
