Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I took out a loan originally for just over $ XXXX. It ballooned to over XXXX. I have paid in excess of {$7000.00} to this company. My balance is still over $ XXXX. I WILL NOT pay this company {$42000.00} to pay off a {$9000.00} loan. That is unethical, predatory, and extortion. I have repeatedly tried to get a better rate, to change my payment plan, to find some sort of remedy so I am not getting extorted by this company. They only tell me to pay more money each month. That is an unacceptable answer from a financial institution. This company is a fraud. They can offer no remediation. This needs to stop today.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: This has been an on going issue with XXXX. I sent letters to Nelnet and XXXX asking for the accounts listed to be investigated per the FCRA. I sent complaint and XXXX responded with the attached letter. According to the FCRA the term " investigate consumer report '' means a consumer report or portion thereof in which information on a consumer 's character, general reputation, personal characteristics, or mode of living is obtained through personal interviews with neighbors, friends, or associates of the consumer reported on or with others with whom he is acquainted or who may have knowledge or who may have knowledge concerning any such items of information. They stated my account my account were verified but how is that possible if they did not perform perform a proper investigation according to the law. Also, every piece of information on these accounts are still not reporting 100 % accurate. Lastly, according to the FCRA 15 USC 1681 everything has to be 100 % accurate.

Consumer Complaint: Studentaid.gov does not have legal loan paperwork nor promissory note. Can not provide evidence loan exists nor previous payments made during 24 years Said loan supposedly existed. Payment terms were 20 years and never missed. Terms of loan met. Therefore balance legally zero. No evidence provided by supposed creditor to validate their claims. Current rules of Biden Administration if no evidence payments not made then assumed that they were made. There are no records of payments. Even though loan conditions met they refused to provide evidence and refuse terms met. And yet credit bureau still reports this damaging credit report.

Consumer Complaint: I refinanced my student loan ( through XXXX XXXX by Firstmark Services ) early in XXXX, and payment in a total of {$43000.00} was made to the new loan company ( XXXX XXXX ) on XX/XX/XXXX. I made an overpayment of {$2000.00} by the time the transfer was completed. I called XXXX several times to follow up on that credit. When I called back in XXXX, the rep informed me that it takes 7-10 business days for the check to get sent to XXXX, and date for the check was supposed to be XXXX. I went ahead and called again that weekend to check if has been sent, and the rep informed me that it was and should take XXXX a few days before they can deposit. When I called XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, I was informed that there was no check. I went ahead and called XXXX, and I was told that they were going to investigate. On XX/XX/XXXX, a week later, I called XXXX again to ask if a check has been received, and was informed that they did not receive anything at all. So, I called XXXX that same day, was on the phone with them for 23 minutes, and I was given the following information : 1. The check was supposed to be sent, but there is no check number nor transaction number that can be provided. 2. It would need to get someone higher up to check the status. First is to check if check has been sent, then check if it has been cleared. If not, then they will need to put a stop on it, and will reissue. 3. It will take another 7-10 business days before it can be resolved. 4. I asked for a supervisor and was provided the same statement. 5. I asked how would I know if it is being taken care of, and was told that they have recorded the issue on their end, so I insisted to get a call back by Friday. Here are my issues : - If I did not bother looking at my statements, I probably would have lost that money as apparently, there was nobody from their end checking up on it. - The transaction history ( see attached ) still shows a credit, which tells that a check may have never been sent- If they did in fact not send the check, they provided me a false information - Even after several attempts of resolving this with them, I am still not seeing any resolution- I am incurring more interest because my principal is higher than it should be as XXXX has not received the check yet

Consumer Complaint: I received a letter from Nelnet stating my student loan was delinquent back in XX/XX/2021. I called Nelnet to figure out what was going on because Student Loans were on deferment due to the XXXX XXXX. I requested a forbearance for XXXX days while I wait for the paper work to place the loan back in deferment. While waiting on the paper work, my account was reported to the Credit Bureaus as delinquent XXXX days past due. I called Nelnet to see how this could happen when I requested the forbearance for XXXX days and was waiting on the Income Repayment Plan paper work. No explanation given and knocked my XXXX XXXX down XXXX points with each credit reporting agency. Talk to a rep at Nelnet to see why the Student Loans were excluded from deferment when it's not a private loan and why it was reporting delinquent during the Pandemic. Got nothing resolved with Nelnet. Disputed this delinquent status with all three bureaus and it still remains on my credit report as delinquent.
