Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low
Subissue: Overdrafts and overdraft fees
Consumer Complaint: I noticed overdraft fees on my account totaling XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. I contacted the bank on the XX/XX/XXXX after another XXXX dollars in overdraft fees came out, totaling XXXX dollars. I was informed who the merchant was that triggered the overdrafts and I reached out to the merchant. The merchant stated they would refund my money because I didn't authorize the charges. I saw to credited payments from the merchant and contacted navy federal again to confirm the payments were reversed. Navy Federal refuses to remove the overdraft fees and provide a credit until the fraud issue is resolved. I have asked for a resolution but they are not giving direct answers and they have me going in circles. I have never experienced this with any bank and I am highly disappointed. This business is supposed to practice ethical acts but they are definitely practicing unethical practices. I feel like they are robbing the less fortunate and giving to the rich.

Consumer Complaint: The bank reached out to me about fraudulently transactions. I called them back and spoke to a representative where we went through the charges. I pointed out which charges were fraudulent. They submitted the claim. In less than 3 hours I received a notification that the charges were valid. I continued to get other notifications about declined transaction since I had frozen my card at the time I had spoken to the representative. These charges indicated to be in another city and where at food locations. When I called again, they instructed me that I could appeal, which I have done. However there is no way to escalate or speak to the appeals team. There is an undetermined amount of time of when you will hear back from them. There is no point of contact.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I am filing a complaint against Navy Federal Credit Union for multiple violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ). Despite my attempts to address discrepancies in my account, Navy Federal Credit Union has failed to respond, violating FDCPA Section 805 ( c ). Additionally, my request for verification of the debt, as per FDCPA Section 809 ( b ), has gone unanswered. The account was charged off without resolution, potentially constituting an unfair practice under FDCPA Section 808 ( 1 ). Despite the chargeoff, Navy Federal Credit Union still retains the title associated with the debt.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals
Consumer Complaint: I received an email stating that {$42000.00} was withdrawn from my account. I hadnt noticed it for a while because I normally dont touch my account unless Im using funds to purchase supplies and materials. I called the bank and was told my account was on hold for identification purposes and all I had to do to gain access to my account is show my identification. I go into the bank show my identification as I have always done. The teller calls in gives my information I say yes to verify it was me and the process was cleared I was told I could gain access to my account again. I then tried to make a withdrawal and it said my account was flagged for fraud. She then called back to to see what happened she was placed on hold we held for a long time before we were disconnected she gave the direct number to call so I called and was given a series of questions that I answered all of them and the gentleman that spoke with abruptly hung up so I called back multiple days and couldnt get any answer. I called the bank back and was told my account was under the discreation of the bank and I cant bank with Navy Federal anymore. All this happened from the time I went into navy federal to unlock my account then I noticed the email after I talked to the guy on the number the teller had given me. Before I went into the bank to unlock my account I had the available funds.
