Issue: Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt resulted from identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I contacted National Credit Systems attempting to pay off debt until I found out I was a victim of identity theft. I called to inform XXXX XXXX the collections agent there and obtain identity theft paperwork only for him to fax and return only for him to continue to make threats. XXXX XXXX accused me of lying about being a victim and there is nothing that can be done to help me. I felt very offended by his actions. I asked to speak to manager and his manager said and did the same things. The manager even told me that there is nothing that well every be done to get rid of debt so deal with it.

Consumer Complaint: I was contacted back in XXXX/XXXX/XXXX I received a call from the national credit services collection agency and they stated I had a balance of {$2100.00} from XXXX XXXX apartments and would I be able to make a full payment today? I told them I was a college student who was locked out of my apartment before even going to court to complete the full eviction process and I was disputing the charge. He stated at that time the full amount would hit my credit. I never received any further calls from that moment on until XXXX back two years later and asked if I could set up a payment arrangement they said no the full amount is due. After that I called again in XXXX XXXX and spoke with XXXX and she stated she would be offer a settlement of {$1300.00} but that would need to be paid within the same month. I agreed and told her I would call beck the end of XXXX to make payment. It is now the end of XXXX and I called and XXXX was very rude to me and stated I could no longer make the payment they have been calling and sending out letters for a settlement which I NEVER recieved. So now she stated they would send off the settlement request which has no time frame of when they would get back to me with the settlement amount it could take weeks or months or they may never get back in contact with me for a settlement. I told her I wanted to speak with her supervisor which her name is XXXX and she stated I should call back on Tuesday because she would submit the request for me but when I called back Tuesday she was at lunch and I spoke again to XXXX who stated no update for a settlement has been made and she stated they may never respond for the settlement to be made but I told her again you offered me a settlement before so you are not offering me what we agreed on and she stated I should go ahead and pay the full amount which is unfair and not ethical by any means. I just want to get this taken care of today but they are not willing to help at all and they are not professional.

Consumer Complaint: A collection agency started to call. They pressured that my account was up for review and that I will be sued if I did not make a payment. The company has refused to work with what is within my means of living. I was recently homeless, trying to obtain healthy living standards. I offered them a deal. They refused. I can not pay full balance as it was an eviction and in the upwards of a few thousand dollars. I am XXXX years of age and a student. When they call, it is in snarky tone and condescending. I did not stay at the complex for 8 months. After the fact they want to charge for 8 months rent and bonuses. That is why I offered them a lower % back because the complex had the opportunity to fill the vacant spot. As this was happening the complex sold itself to another financial institution. Causing new management, not being able to obtain old records with approximate balances that were updated and account information. Causing the new collection agency to collect on debt that is wrongful. Along with their obscene behavior. Plus threats to take action that were never taken should be adequate enough to where this account is dismissed. The original creditor has sold the account. Thus leading the collection agency not owning the original debt as well with no proof of transactions. I also have no received anything in mail by the agency after I disputed the information they provided and they continue to call back without verifying the information.

Consumer Complaint: This Company constantly is reporting a debt that I owe. I have never lived in the apartments and their stating I did by the point an apartment gave them inaccurate information. Its preventing me from getting an apartment. They ask me to fill out a form I am not comfortable with a debt collection agency reporting information about me. I understand According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) .an original contract and how whatever was owed came about so forth. Now All XXXX credit bureaus have removed this off my file but National credit systems are reporting this to XXXX. I spoke with them and all they are saying is they ask this company questions and they kept it on there. I refuse to pay are submit information to a debt collection agency. I would like to have this resolved.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I got a credit alert from my credit monitoring service that there was a change in my credit bureau. I went online and looked at it and saw simply a reference to a collection from a company called National Credit Systems. I had never received a phone call or letter or any other communication from this company. I called their offices as soon as it opened, inquired about the debt they were collecting on, and realized it was related to an early termination fee from an apartment I was renting in XXXX! I do n't dispute the amount, but I was never billed for the early termination fee and did n't know it was outstanding. So, I informed the agent that I had never received notice from the apartment company or from the collection agency that anyone was trying to collect. I told him I would pay the debt that day, which I did, if he could ensure that it would be expunged from my credit bureau because I 've never gotten any phone calls or letters from anyone. The agent said " absolutely ''. He suggested that they did n't have any contact information for me even though I kept the same mailing address and phone number before, during and after the time I lived in the apartment. Surely the apartment complex had all that information from my initial application. Even so, a simple google search could have easily found me. I paid the bill that day and continued to follow up with the company about expunging the collection from my record because they had n't provided any notification or made any effort to notify me about collecting a debt. My bureaus show the credit as paid off, but its still on there as a derogatory, negatively impacting my credit score. I have no way to contact the prior apartment management as the complex was sold. And my attempts to resolve this with the collection agency have obviously yielded little result. I believe that a collection agency, as a furnisher of information to the credit bureaus, is required to Inform consumers about negative information which is in the process of or has already been placed on a consumer 's credit report within one month. I received no such notification from the time I vacated the apartment ( XXXX XXXX ) until the time I got the alert from my credit monitoring ( XXXX XXXX )!!! Thanks for your help.

Consumer Complaint: I have recently relocated to Mississippi a couple months ago for a job and applied to get a home loan for my boys and I to buy a house. I was told that I had a negative mark on there from National Credit Systems for over {$7000.00}. I have never had a negative mark on my credit for anything. I am a single mom and have always protected my credit and finances. I talked to my attorney and he informed me that it is illegal to collect on a debt past the 3 year SOL in Mississippi. I tried disputing this account several times in the couple of months and have gotten nothing back from these people. I want this fraud charge off.

Consumer Complaint: I have never received a letter or been called about this debt. I did not know it existed until I applied for an apartment and they brought it to my attention. When I called National Credit Services to explain I have never in six years been made aware of this debt I was told by a XXXX XXXX that my only option was to pay. I fully dispute this debt, as it was for an early termination fee that I was made to understand would be collected from my initial deposit on the apartment that sent this debt to collection. Because it has been six years, I no longer have paperwork regarding that apartment and the apartment no longer exists, as it was bought out by new management years ago. So I am not able to see if the apartment still has records on file. XXXX XXXX also told me I can not dispute the debt and when I asked for written verification of the debt, he said it would take three weeks to send it out to me. Under law, I believe they have five days to do so. I would like to dispute this debt, but the rep from National Credit Systems in XXXX GA refused to give me information besides repeating the amount and name of the apartment. I am also unsure if this debt can legally be collected because of how old it is. When I asked him if it had reached the statute of limitations time limit, he said he did n't know what that was. He puts me on hold for XXXX min in order to avoid my call and I have still never received a letter or call from them.
