Consumer Complaint: Subject : Unauthorized Hard Inquiries on Client 's Credit Report - Request for Investigation and Removal Dear Consumer Financial Protection Division, I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of utmost concern regarding unauthorized hard inquiries on my client 's credit report. On XXXX XXXX XXXX my client, XXXX, received a confirmation letter from XXXX regarding the security freeze placed on her credit reports with XXXX, Equifax, XXXX, and XXXX. This freeze was initiated in accordance with the provisions outlined in Michigan Compiled Laws, specifically XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX through XXXX. Despite the security freeze in place, it has come to our attention that unauthorized hard inquiries have been made on my client 's credit report. These inquiries not only violate the established freeze but also pose a serious threat to the financial security and privacy ofXXXX. The unauthorized access to her credit information raises concerns about potential identity theft or fraudulent activities. In light of these circumstances, I am formally requesting the Consumer Financial Protection Division to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. The purpose of this investigation is to identify the entities responsible for the unauthorized hard inquiries, ascertain the motive behind such actions, and take appropriate measures to rectify the situation. Furthermore, I request that the Consumer Financial Protection Division facilitates the prompt removal of these unauthorized hard inquiries from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX 's credit reports. It is crucial to restore the integrity of her credit history and protect her from any potential adverse effects on her financial standing. This is an infringement upon my identity, privacy, protection, and rights. The Privacy Act of 1974 provides protections to individuals in three primary ways. It provides individuals with : the right to request their records, subject to Privacy Act exemptions ; the right to request a change to their records that are not accurate, relevant, timely or complete ; and the right to be protected against unwarranted invasion of their privacy resulting from the collection, maintenance, use, and disclosure of their personal information. 15 U.S.C. 1681b Permissible purposes of consumer reports ( a ) In general Subject to subsection ( c ), any consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report under the following circumstances and no other : ( 2 ) In accordance with the written instructions of the consumer to whom it relates. 15 U.S.C. 1681 Congressional findings and statement of purpose ( a ) Accuracy and fairness of credit reporting The Congress makes the following findings : ( 3 ) Consumer reporting agencies have assumed a vital role in assembling and evaluating consumer credit and other information on consumers. ( 4 ) There is a need to insure that consumer reporting agencies exercise their grave responsibilities with fairness, impartiality, and a respect for the consumers right to privacy. 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 Responsibilities of furnishers of information to consumer reporting agencies. Consumer Complaint: I have recently discovered that other credit bureaus have already removed this account from their records as they did not provide enough information for me to verify this debt. I was the victim in this situation, and I am perplexed as to why your bureau is not complying with the law, especially when other bureaus have followed suit by addressing and correcting these inaccuracies. Given the lack of information provided to verify this debt, I request that you cease reporting this account immediately. Without proper validation and information, continuing to report this account is not only inaccurate but also incomplete and unverifiable. I want to emphasize that I was the victim of this error, and I am very frustrated by the apparent disregard for compliance with the law exhibited by your bureau.
