Consumer Complaint: On my Discover Bank savings account, on XX/XX/2019 I found a " deleted '' transaction that was depositing {$20000.00} from a XXXX XXXX account to my Discover Bank savings account. I do not have a XXXX XXXX account, so reported this to Discover Bank. Here is their response : " We are aware of an issue that is showing deleted transfers to or from XXXX XXXX even though you don't have a XXXX XXXX account on file. I can confirm no funds are being sent to or from XXXX XXXX as this is only a display error and we are working to resolve this issue as fast as we can. At this time we do not have any way for customers to work around this matter or an ETA on when it might be resolved but rest assured the problem will be resolved as quickly as possible. '' I am very concerned that I have such a transaction from XXXX XXXX XXXX, with whom I do not have an account, on my personal Discover Bank savings account.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing in because the discover card practices are unethical and are hurting all consumers I opened an account with discover I applied for the card in XX/XX/XXXX and it took them almost a month verify me and my information to open the card ok I star using the card and then in XX/XX/XXXX they ask me to release my tax information to them to verify my identity. I have never had to do such a thing for any CC company I did not feel comfortable with this I called the company they said yes the emails legit and we nee to verify who you are. I initially scanned in my SS card and DL. Then I told them I have card that have a way higher limit that did not required al the Hassel and struggle. they the said ok well Ill close your account. I asked them to escalate higher in the company as I do not believe its fair to the consumer to take a hit twice one for you to run credit them to close it. SO NO ONE CALLED OR FOLLOWED UP WITH ME THEY CLOSED THE CARD. My credit was hit again as I have a new account closed and then they added remarks closed by grantor so now that 3 total negative hits. This now has also happened to my Son account. they need to be stop we as consumers work hard to maintain or build good credit with the struggle in the economy for them to be adding extra obstacles just because they are a big credit agency is not at all fair. this is happening to many other and they need to stop and be held accountable. I rather them had just denied me from the beginning at least that would have been just one hit I would have had to take.

Consumer Complaint: Discover card account in place since 2011 Account was closed without notification {$0.00} balance account with a {$3500.00} credit line Closure reduced my FICO score by 10 points When I contacted Discover they refused to reopen my account despite closure not being credit related, closure was due to not using the card This is a predatory practice as a natural result of reducing a consumers denominator in their debt usage ratio is reduction in FICO, which means long standing accounts with Customer-friendly rates and terms can be turned over and converted into newer less Customer-friendly accounts with higher rates and less benefits This is a violation of UDAAP due to its a usive effect on the Consumer

Consumer Complaint: I had a Discover IT secured card opened in XX/XX/2019, which had 100 % payment history and I always paid off my balance and kept great record of my credit, so Discover returned my deposit and increased my credit line which was awesome considering I'm rebuilding my credit. In XX/XX/2019 I legally changed my first and middle name, so I contacted XXXX to update them and sent them my legal documents for the name change, and they updated my info and sent me a new card. In XXXX or XX/XX/2019, Discover needed me to sign a document to have my information verified through the IRS, so I signed it and a few weeks later Discover informed me they were closing my account due to not being able to verify my information with the IRS but couldn't tell me what information and left it at that. I then get a letter from the IRS about some of my information being requested but unable to verify, which the piece of unverifiable information was my NAME, why.. because I haven't filed taxes under my new name yet! Discover knew about my name change and still decided to close my account after months of nothing but good history with them. So now thanks to them I have a closed account on my credit report when their unverifiable information they already knew about, so why couldn't they either request a different way to verify my information or take into consideration that I just recently changed my name and it hasn't been fully updated with the IRS considering we haven't filed taxes for 2019 yet! Thanks for nothing Discover, I'll never recommend you!

Consumer Complaint: My girlfriend and I both applied for the same credit card around the same time this year, she was approved and I was denied. We have similar credit scores and risk scores ( mine fare a bit better than hers ). Our public records are identical and she has way more unpaid debt than I do. My oldest accounts are also older than hers.

Subissue: Can't close your account
Consumer Complaint: I have an active credit card ending in XXXX. Tro prior accounts were closed by me. One neds in XXXX the other in XXXX I canceled and reported the last two as LOST because I had given the card to vendors that at some point did not want to continue paying an " ongoing '' bill pay with them It was understood that once the card is " lost '' and thus closed, the card company would not honor payments if submitted by such vendors. To my surprise, the credit card does not stop payments to vendors with prior on going bill pay that has an on going relation. when I spoke to Discover about not honoring such payments, they told me their policy is to continue paying regardless if I wished to honor such prior relationships Today I called to cancel ALL my accounts, for I fear they will continue obligating me to pay in closed accounts to vendors, for the DISCOVER policy is to continue paying EVEN if the carte has been noted closed or lost Since I want to close ALL my relationship with XXXXiscover, I asked them to send me an e mail confirming this, and supervisor ID # XXXX ( XXXX speaking one ) was rude and hung up on me. I fear he won't send me a confirmation of the request, so to document, should Discover keep paying in my name to vendors I refuse in spite of the fact I am discontinuing any business with Discover with any card I have or had, I document this with you and report them for this fraudulent activity. It is my feeling that I, the owner of the card should be the one who determines who gets paid and who not, NOT DISCOVER The problem is between me and the business I have payments with. If I do not pay them, let the vendor go after me, but it is totally unacceptable for Discover to obligate me to pay for bills I have determined I refuse to pay, and then, be obligated to Discover to pay for the funds they disbursed to a company refuse to pay. Please note, in several occasions, I tried to send an e mail to discover. In their incoming message, it does not say DO NOT REPLY> SO, I write a complaint, send it, and then a while later it returns as DO NOT REPLY> This company is a total waste of time. I told t hem I want them to close down ALL cards I have and any payments requested by vendors submitted will not be honored, and not top ay. If thye pay, it is their , which I will not repay. I have OVERPAID my card, by {$320.00}, and Discover today said they will send me the $ by US POST. I hope they honor at least that. If not, I will report this AS PART OF THE ENCLOSED GRIEVANCE.

Consumer Complaint: Discover Financial sent a 1099-c cancellation of debt to the IRS in XXXX. I never received the document in XX/XX/XXXX. i do not recall ever having a card with discover. I called Discover to request statements of the so called account. They responded the account was opened and closed in XXXX and they charged off in XXXX and they do not keep records after 7 years being XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX. How can they claim a debt with no proof? What are my legal rights disputing them?
