Consumer Complaint: A couple of years ago, I had a catastrophic event that prevented me from paying my Discover card bill. They quickly snowballed my minimum payment amount to well over {$1000.00}, which wasn't feasible when I couldn't even make the regular minimum payment. I called several times to try to work with them, but they wouldn't accept a lower payment. Finally they transferred me over to internal collections, who breezed through three different payment plans, discouraged questions, and refused to send me anything in writing, telling me that it was a " one-time offer. '' I refused to agree to anything without being given something in writing beforehand, so she hung up on me. I then found out that Discover reported me as deceased. I have tried to contact Discover to correct the issue, and I have reported the error to XXXX and XXXX, but I have not been able to remove the " Deceased '' designation from my file. This has resulted in multiple negative impacts - making it difficult to resolve accounts, only being able to qualify for a ridiculously high interest rate on a car loan, and being denied a secured card to help improve my credit scores.

Consumer Complaint: I had a chargd off credit card debt with Discover Card in the amount {$1800.00}, which was sent to their third party collection agency, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. ( Address : XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, MN XXXX ; Phone number is XXXX ). I made a payment in full on XX/XX/2021 to XXXX XXXX XXXX to pay the account in full. I was then advised by XXXX XXXX XXXX to e-mail them copies of the cleared check and a screen shot of my bank transaction history showing that the payment of {$1800.00} had cleared my bank. I e-mailed this information to them on XX/XX/2021. On the same week of XX/XX/2021, I made several phone calls to XXXX XXXX XXXX and to Discover Card ( Phone number for Discover Card is XXXX ). On these phone calls, I was assured that XXXX XXXX XXXX had approved the closure of my file with them, they would send a dismissal notice to XXXX County conciliation court, and then send the closed file to Discover Card. In speaking to Discover Card multiple times, I was assured that they did show the payment had been received, but they could not update my account as " closed - paid in full '' with the credit bureaus until they received the closed file from XXXX XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2021, I spoke to XXXX at Discover Card ( phone number XXXX ) and she attempted to reach out to XXXX XXXX XXXX to get the closed file from them so that Discover Card could update the credit bureaus that my account was paid in full and closed. The call then became disconnected for unknown reasons. I then called back and spoke to XXXX, who refused to understand the issue and what I was asking of him. He became threatening and rude -- and refused to answer my questions -- when I asked if the call was being monitored and recorded. After nearly one hour of speaking to XXXX and getting nowhere with his abusive language to me, his refusal to help resolve the issue and his inability to answer my questions directly on the debt collection practices of Discover Card, I was then transferred to a supervisor named XXXX. XXXX began screaming at me at the top of his lungs, at which point I could neither hear nor understand him. He asked me " were you abused as a child? Are you always a bully? '' and began hurling abusive and derogatory terms at me regarding my gender identity. XXXX then terminated the call without telling me what he would do to resolve the issue to get the debt reported to the credit bureaus as closed and paid in full. I then called back, got XXXX again, who immediately transferred me back to XXXX. XXXX then began verbally abusing me again, using language to degrade me and accuse me of being a bully and telling me that I was inept and not listening to me. XXXX refused to tell me, once again, what he would do to resolve the issue of updating the debt as closed and paid in full with the credit bureaus. XXXX, again, screamed at the top of his lungs at me to tell me that I needed to " shut up and listen, '' at which point he terminated the call.

Consumer Complaint: During 2019, I froze my Discover Card Account. I was told that no charges would be made on my account. A charge still went through for {$150.00}. The original company falsely refunded a portion of the amount but not the entire amount. I tried to dispute the bill. Discover did nothing. The bill should have never happened on my frozen account.

Consumer Complaint: I had an unauthorized purchase made on my Discover credit card in XX/XX/2019. I always pay my statements in full. I did not realize there was a fraudulent charge until I was getting my tax information together. The charge was {$1100.00} for a seminar in California. I live in SC and I have never traveled to California nor has my husband. My husband was using the card to buy materials for his XXXXXXXX XXXX at the time of the unauthorized purchase. I did not look at my statement at the time and paid the card off in full. As soon as I discovered the charge, I contacted Discover card and they credited my account. Two months later, Discover card added the charge back. I have tried talking to the fraud department many times and they will not dismiss the charge. They act like I'm lying about it. I have no reason to attend a seminar nor does my husband. Discover card is trying to sue me for someone else 's fraudulent activity.

Consumer Complaint: I already reached out to the credit bureaus and to DISCOVER FIN SVCS LLC, and notify them of their recent study along with the missed payments pertaining to the account number XXXX on my report. I requested an investigation and the correction of the information. No changes were made. I informed them that this company was violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act yet they did nothing to correct the matter. I have been monitoring my credit report for any changes since my several dispute letters, but I am yet to see the correction that I asked for and desperately need. I requested to generate me personally with a detailed description of the procedure designed to verify the account is " real '' but as of the moment no information received. I had also requested the actual proof, physical first hand documentation of the payment history but I did not receive what I asked and these violations persist on my credit report.
