Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 I applied for a credit card after receiving preapproval. I was denied even though my debt to income ratio is around 18 %. When I called I spoke with XXXX she advised me that they based my application on false info. They stated my credit report shows two mortgage payments, one for {$440.00} and another for {$660.00}. That is false, my credit report only shows one mortgage payment. She also stated my credit report shows a monthly payment of {$5000.00} to XXXX. That was another false statement. That account she claims was used as my debt has been paid off for years. XXXX claimed she would have everything reviewed and she would reach out to me in a few days. Never heard from her. Called Discover today and received the run around. It is a violation of the Fair Credit Act, to use false credit info. Discover was made aware on XX/XX/2021 and XX/XX/2021 that the info they used to deny my application was not accurate. XXXX has provided me with a credit report and it is accurate. They also told me they did not provide Discover with the inaccurate credit report they used. Discover has a duty to obtain and use accurate information when reviewing application, especially when they have been informed what they have used is not accurate. Discover 's failure has caused me to improperly be denied and have an unnecessary inquiry. They have clearly violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Consumer Complaint: In the past few months, I have contacted Discover Student Loans repeatedly to resolve late payments that have been attributed to my accounts. When I have reached out to Discover Student Loans, I have been told each time that my accounts were incorrectly marked as delinquent. With that information from Discover, and a documented ledger of my payments being on time ( provided by Discover ), I opened a dispute with XXXX. The dispute was kicked back, as was 4 other attempts. When reaching out to XXXX as to why this was the case, I was told that Discover said the late payments were valid. This is a direct contradiction to what I had been told by Discover and also contradicted the documentation that Discover had provided which showed payments being made on time, not delinquent.

Consumer Complaint: I have a credit card with Discover Financial Services. I sent an email on XX/XX/2021 to Discover Financial Services Executive Offices. That email requested a Check/Voucher for Exemption be sent to me in the mail or attached to my billing statement that would allow me to discharge my debt. Discover sent me mail containing a letter on XX/XX/2021 stating that they were closing my account and included all of my credit card statement history, but the Check/Voucher for Exemption was not included. I would still like Discover Financial Services to send me a Check/Voucher for Exemption. Discover is allowed to access my pre-paid credit at the Federal Reserve and I will be allowed to discharge my debt at the Federal Reserve with the Check/Voucher for Exemption. Discover Financial Service fails to follow the Commercial Administration Laws under Federal Title 15 that apply to their corporation.

Consumer Complaint: Dear To Whom It May Concern, On XX/XX/XXXX, I have contacted Discover about un-authorized payments made and un-authorized charges made on my account. I have provided detailed information and all the charges that were not authorized. Someone had hacked my online account and added the card to their XXXX XXXX/online charges. When I notified Discover they disputed all the wrong charges : which caused all of my merchants that were on auto-pay to be owed again. They apologized and attempted to sent the money back to the merchants that were authorized. With Speaking with them again on XX/XX/XXXX, I have spoke to another representative to have the correct charges disputed. At that point I have closed my account to make sure not other charges go through. With the ATTEMPTED correct dispute. I have waited another 60 days and they have denied my claim. Un-Authorized payments and charges were made on this account and they kept denying my claim. I offered to file a police report and XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX said it wouldn't have mattered. Complete mess, My limit was {$3200.00} and it shows I owe over {$14000.00}. Explaining the situation again they wanted to set me up on a hard-ship payment plan which they did for 60 months. I am not responsible for the mishandling of this account by the fraudster or the bank. This has been a total nightmare dealing with this bank and trying to get this account resolved. On XX/XX/XXXX, I called 3 times and got hung up on. Attempted to speak with a manager for a settlement ( even though these charges are not mine ) except the ones that were for my bills. They told me no settlement is available and I made these charges. Why would I rack up {$14000.00} of debt if my limit is only {$3200.00}. My account prior to this summer was paid on time and kept a low balance. I have been treated so bad and this is ruining my life. I am tired and stressed about this situation and don't know what else to do. I received a call back from a supervisor named XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. She stated she doesn't know why I was held responsible for these charges but can not settle. They don't have that option anymore. I will provide a police report or anything to have this account situated. I have been dealing with this for almost a year. They told me they can file a complaint but that wouldn't do anything. I told them I would go with the CFPB and possible an attorney she said it did not matter they can't help. I am not sure if you can help but this is driving me insane. Please assist me in this matter.
