Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low
Subissue: Non-sufficient funds and associated fees
Consumer Complaint: I had two checking accounts with Citibank ; one for myself and the other for my XXXX son ; no fees were associated with this account, and if they were, they were reversed/waived. I closed my account maybe 2-3 years ago. My sons account had a total of XXXX XXXX in it. 2-3 years later, with no activity on the account, and Citibank is added fees saying that I owe. Total now is over {$30.00}, I believe. I asked, when I was a customer do they close accounts due to inactivity. I was told no now I see way. This is a clever way to steal money from consumers. I asked if the elder customers experience this as well. There was no response.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I made an online purchase on XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$730.00} item was delivered at the front door. I wasnt home when the package was delivered. I did get a email stating the package was delivered. The package was stolen off front porch. I notified the company that I didnt receive the package. I was asked to notify the XXXX carrier who delivered the package which I did to complete the investigation process. The carrier notified me a few days later he delivered the package at the front door. I than proceeded to call the Macys credit card dispute department asking if they can reship my package with a signature required. On XXXX XXXX And that was declined. So at this point I asked the company if I can file an another dispute on XXXX XXXX requesting a refund since the reshipment was denied. I was than getting letters in the mail stating the dispute was denied. And the investigation was taking 1 to 2 billing cycles so than I proceeded to reopen the dispute and i received yet another letter stating the dispute was denied I kept reopening this same transaction and filing the dispute ever time the company denied the dispute. All the way till XXXX XXXX I kept calling every week to get the status on the dispute and I was getting the run around and being on hold for hours just to wait for a super visor to say they will look in to this and see what they can do. They would pass me over and over to another agent I would be on hold for hours.just for this not to be resolved. and that the company made there final decision and the dispute is denied. That theres nothing the can do. I told over and over Im not going to be responsible for a purchase that i didnt receive.

Consumer Complaint: Citibank opened a credit card account without my authorization and I spoke with them multiple times to have it closed. The account was orginally a XXXX XXXX store card and they transferred that balance without my consent to a regular credit card which I did not request or authorize. I paid off the balance and requested the account be closed. I filed a complaint because they opened the account without my authorization and was told by citibank representatives that the account was closed. Apparently they did not close the account like they said they would because I recently received a statement regarding this account via email. FYI the Statement balance was XXXX because this card has never been used and the only balance it has ever had was from when they transferred the store card balance without my consent. I paid off that balance, although the payment ended up being late because the Citibank representative gave me the wrong address to send my check to. They did credit the late fees and interest on the balance. I want to add the only reason I had to send a check at all is because they closed my store credit account without my authorization and I was unable to pay the balance online like I had done in the past. I would like this account to be closed and for Citibank to stop committing these type of credit card scams.

Consumer Complaint: Attempted to dispute three transactions with Citi. Merchant advertised table top board games on XXXX and I placed three orders for 17 games total. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX {$62.00} It turns out company is well known fraudster ( XXXX ). This name was not associated with the original website that the games were advertised on but appeared in the billing description. Within a few days, the website that was selling the items disappeared off the web. They never sent tracking numbers or invoices. I immediately sent in disputes to Citi documenting how this is a known fraudster and despite this being easily verified as a scam, they have denied my dispute and the appeal. Merchant provided Citi with fake tracking info which does not match up with 15 board games being shipped. Games never arrived, I'm out {$150.00} with no recourse.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/, my car was broken into and they stole my wallet with all my credit cards ( including macy 's ) and identification. Please refer to the police report : XXXX. Since my identification was stolen with my credit cards, they thief walked into Macys and purchased {$800.00} of stuff without my permission, which is still showing on my credit report. I tried to work with Macy 's by providing the police report information to them and they still kept the charges on my account and credit. I disputed this charge with XXXX 3 times and same results. Therefore, I contacted XXXX prepaid legal as this is a case of stolen identity in which I am being held legally responsible for, which is incorrect and needs to be rectify immediately. This charge is damaging my credit report and opportunities to use credit. Since Macy 's didn't believe me and continued to keep the charge on my account, I requested the credit card be closed immediately. I refuse to do business with any company that holds you responsible for something you didn't do. It's not good business by far. Identification theft is a nightmare and when you have companies like Macys who only care about the money not the customer. I prefer not to spend a XXXX investing in there company.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I purchased items from XXXX worth {$1700.00} and received my order on XX/XX/2023. In XXXX, upon inspecting the items, I found they were all defective because they weren't sewn properly, it's unsaleable. I contacted the merchant about the defects, informing them I could return the items as they offer a 30-day free return for defective items. The merchant ignored my request and insisted on remaking the items, but I declined, worried about a repeat issue. I took the matter to XXXX, but after almost a month, there's still no solution. I went to Citibank to dispute the charge. Despite providing all the necessary documents, Citibank credited me {$130.00}, which is not enough. I expect the full amount back, as I showed evidence of the defective products, evidence of the merchant ignoring my request to return the items, evidence that they offer a 30-day return, and more. In Citibank 's first letter, they asked if I attempted to return the items, which I provided proof of my messages to the merchant that I want to return the items. However, I can't return the items if the merchant doesn't provide a return shipping label. How am I supposed to return them if I don't know where to ship them? Citibank 's last letter mentioned their attempt to resolve with the merchant, who still refuses to issue a credit.
