Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/year> I was charged a {$30.00} return check fee by Citi Bank though I called and informed the bank that I was doing a stop payment on the {$700.00} payment from my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX account. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX performed a stop payment and charged me the {$20.00} Stop payment fee. I contacted Citi Bank again about the {$30.00} return check fee which they refused to remove and have continued to tack on fees though the account has been paid in full and closed by them. They have harassed me and reported my account as delinquent on my credit, damaging me yet again with their predatory and reprehensible practices. They have also charged me {$24.00} in interest on the return check fee. There is {$30.00} in fees accumulated on the account between XX/XX/year> and XX/XX/year> statement. I also want to dispute the XXXX fee on the XXXX XXXXXX/XX/year> bill that became {$6.00} on the XX/XX/year> bill. This is an illegal fee charged.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Can't close your account
Consumer Complaint: Over the weekend I was trying to use my credit card at a legitimate business when I got a text, call and app notification that there was fraud on my card. The only thing I can think of was that it was because I had just switched to a new phone. I called them when I got home and they asked me a number of security verification questions which I answered. They then said that wasn't good enough and they needed another phone line. I gave them my girlfriends phone number after which they said that it wasn't the right kind of phone number with no explanation. They then asked me if I had a third phone or a land line. I do not. They then said that they are going to mail me a letter. At this point in time, I was so frustrated with the process. I asked them to just close my account and send me my final bill because I no longer have access to my account online and I only receive electronic bills from them. They informed me that I could not close my account until I received the letter. I called back on Monday and asked them if I could file a formal complain and that again, I do not want to be a customer of theirs and want to pay my account off and close it so that any balance on my account does not accrue interest. Also, I do not want to have to keep calling them and providing new, even stranger information. They informed me that they can not close my account without this verification. Thanks, XXXX XXXX
