Consumer Complaint: Macy 's store card has reported a balance of {$1700.00} for more than a year. This balance was paid off at that time. I have called them numerous times. They have blamed it on the credit reporting agencies. However, the credit reporting agency only reports what Macy 's [ or the card company that carries their name ]. We have made numerous calls to Macy 's even escalating to a Supervisor to no avail. In addition, we have reported an incorrect balance a number of times to all 3 credit bureaus. the credit bureaus agree and remove the balance of {$1700.00} being reported. Each month after, Macy 's again reports the balance as {$1700.00}.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Problem with fees
Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX I purchased a new XXXX speaker from Best Buy for a little under {$1000.00}. I opened up a Best Buy credit card through Best Buy Credit Services, financed by CitiBank on the agreed upon stipulations there would be no interest fee charges so long as I paid the balance due from the purchase of the speaker within XXXX calendar year. Subsequently, I began making {$100.00} payments toward what I owed. I in fact paid off the speaker XXXX months *early*. After reviewing my account on their site, they absolutely charged interest on my account, and only after speaking with a representative, some of interest fees were removed but not all. In fact, they had taken a portion of some of my payments and applied it toward their assessed interest, such that now it appears on my statement as Ive not paid enough to cover my balance ( which I have clear documentation from their site that I have duly paid what I owed ). In other words, I made {$1000.00} in payment toward the speaker, they inappropriately assessed interest when we both agreed they wouldnt within 1 year, they inappropriately intercepted my payments made toward my speaker and applied a portion to those frivolous interest charges, and are now reporting to the credit bureaus that I was XXXX ) delinquent in making payments ( which is patently false ). I had a 100 % payment record on my credit report prior to their shake down XXXX ) that I have an outstanding balance still due with them ( which is patently false ), XXXX ) they lowered my credit limit from {$2500.00} to {$350.00}. Which dramatically, and negatively, effected my overall debt to income ratio on my credit report. All while Im literally in the process of looking for a home/home loan. All told, they have negatively affected my credit score by 104-106 points. I currently have a credit score of XXXX and should have a score of XXXX as I have no outstanding debts, and I have a 100 % payment record. Full stop. Best Buy Credit Services and CitiBank illegally assessed interest charges and fees on a debt that was paid and when they they had a clear contract with the consumer to not charge these interest charges and fees. Subsequently they are abusing their right to submit information to the 3 major national credit bureaus and using them to shake down their customers for their, at the very least, inappropriate fees and charges. The credit bureaus will not remove the account from my report even after having provided exceedingly clear evidence that Ive paid what I owed, and that the negative remarks amount to fraudulent activity on my report. However, because apparently the word ( and whatever fabricated documentation theyre able to produce ) of the creditor is stronger than the evidence of the consumer. This is nothing more than a modern day, legal, mob enterprise thats using our national credit bureaus to shake down and extort Americans out of millions of hard earned dollars by holding their credit scores hostage for illegally assessed interest fees and charges. Full stop. Theyre quite literally costing me thousands, if not, over {$100000.00} in direct damages with the current state of interest rates and how Im not able to get a rate from a bank now thats lower than 8 % because of my credit score. CitiBank is the worst company I have ever dealt with and I would rather eat glass on the surface of the Sun than bank with them or purchase another product from Best Buy ever again in my entire natural life.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to bring to your attention a serious matter that has been ongoing since XX/XX/2023. This situation concerns my banking account with Citi, which has been handled in a way that is distressing and unacceptable. I am based on North Carolina USA. On XX/XX/2023, I was informed via mail that my Citi banking account was restricted and would be closed within 60 days. It was explicitly stated that I would receive a check from Citi within that timeframe, as I had a balance exceeding {$4000.00}. However, it has been more than 100 days since the notification, and I am yet to receive the aforementioned check. In an effort to resolve this issue, I have contacted your customer service department on more than 40 occasions. Despite the numerous calls and the countless minutes spent explaining the problem, I have been met with nothing but apparent indifference, with no one providing a clear solution or offering a viable means to rectify the situation. The situation has reached an impasse and has put me under substantial financial strain and XXXX XXXX. The absence of a meaningful response and the failure to return my funds is not only deeply concerning but also, in my opinion, unprofessional and negligent. Therefore, I kindly urge you to look into this matter with the urgency it deserves. I have waited patiently for a resolution and would like my funds returned immediately. If my funds are not promptly returned, I will have no choice but to escalate this issue further, including potentially seeking legal redress. I look forward to hearing from you soon with a view to resolving this matter expediently.

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: My wife and I rented a Property XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX, FL through XXXX for XX/XX/XXXX through XXXX XXXX, XXXX. We used our Citibank Credit Card to make a payment of {$1000.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. We used the same card to make a payment of {$870.00} on XX/XX/XXXX for a total payment of {$1900.00}. When we arrived at the property at the property on XX/XX/XXXX, we found that the owner had grossly misrepresented his property claiming it was right on the beach when in fact you could not even see the beach from his property. As soon as we arrived, we contacted XXXX to voice our displeasure and were told that we had to contact the property owner and work with him to get our money refunded. We tried to contact the owner numerous times and finally spoke with him around XXXX XXXX We told him of our displeasure and that we felt he had fraudulently listed his property as something it wasn't. He told us that if we stayed overnight, he would meet us at XXXX XXXX the next morning and consider giving us a partial refund. Given that we had no other place to stay, we agreed. On XX/XX/XXXX, he did not show up. I reached him by phone later that day and he stated that he was very busy and did not know when he would be able to meet us. After that phone call, my wife and I decided to leave his property and drive north to see if we could find another property to stay at. We also filed a dispute with Citibank for the second payment of XXXX because it was still within the 60 day timeline in which to file a dispute. We knew that we had already forfeited the {$1000.00} we paid in XXXX, XXXX. In addition we filed a complaint with the XXXX XXXX XXXX against XXXX because they advertise a Booking with Confidence guarantee and we felt they had not properly vetted this property listing or the owner. On XX/XX/XXXX XXXX refunded the XXXX fee that they charge for using the service. This was not a partial refund from the owner. I am attaching various documents detailing the correspondences we have had with the Citibank dispute center. We have jumped through every hoop they have asked us to jump through and provided the necessary paperwork they requested and yet still they are not doing anything about this fraudulent charge. As a last resort we are contacting you in the hopes that we will be able to get this resolved.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: I submitted a previous claim ( XXXX ) in XX/XX/2023 that Citi was holding funds that had been transferred into my savings account due to suspected fraud. They responded saying that there was nothing they could do and the account would be closed in 30-60 days and the funds would be returned at that time. I was not pleased as they had no evidence whatsoever of fraud taking place and this seemed like a heavy handed tactic to hold my funds but there isnt much you can do with a big bank like Citi. The first letter I received was dated XX/XX/2023 - it has been well past 60 days and Citis customer service has only given me the runaround on closing the account and sending the funds. I received another letter today dated XX/XX/2023 that is exactly the same as the letter I received in XXXX. Does this mean that Citi is trying to hold my funds another 60 days under false pretenses? I will also be writing to my Representative to help the government understand how much power these big banks hold without any regard to everyday hardworking Americans.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for a CitiBank credit card after receiving a mail promotion that stated purchase transactions would be interest free for 18 months. I have been using the card and went to review my statement and saw the the promotion is only 12 months long. I called Citi on XX/XX/20 when I noticed to clarify this and was told nothing could be done. I requested that they send me a copy of the mailed promotion that led me to apply for the card and they said they could only send me the terms and conditions of the card.
