Consumer Complaint: To rebuild my credit rating i aquired a secured credit card through citti bank. I made on time payments for years they never gave me an actual credit card ( that's insulting ) and in turn later found out they were charging monthly fees for a secured credit card! Borrowing from my own money. None of the money they say i owe is anything i used but all fees. They closed the account before i could. saying i owed this full balance of {$400.00} some dollars on a secured credit card of {$300.00}. I had to call them to tell them that it was secured credit card of XXXX to get the balance lowered. Check them out! They hate me treated me like garbage from the beginning and they truly dont deserve the money they say i do that is all fees. They are sending me a new bill each month with a higher balance when i have told them i dont owe them anything. I say that is harrassment. How are they increasing my balance when the account is closed.

Consumer Complaint: On Friday, XX/XX/XXXX, I was the victim of a fraudulent scheme in which an imposter claiming to be a Citibank representative drained both my savings and my checking accounts of my life savings, {$50000.00}. She was pretending to flag suspicious activity on my debit card. She made six unauthorized fraudulent wire transfers from my savings account to four beneficiary banks. There were also four unauthorized fraudulent XXXX transactions sent from my checking account. I immediately called Citibank moments after hanging up the call, when I realized I had been scammed. Citibank has been unresponsive, unhelpful, unprofessional, demonstrating no sense of urgency or empathy. They seem to be indifferent to an emergency situation because with wire transfers, time is of the essence to stop or recall them. I have been on the phone with Citibank virtually nonstop since this occurred. I have called them dozens and dozens of times. Whenever I was put on hold and a call was disconnected, I had to call back and re-explain the entire situation to a new representative. When I asked why they never call me back, they said they are not allowed to make outgoing calls. Their representatives have not been able to answer questions, they have engaged in stonewalling me, they have yet to connect me with the proper personnel for this problem. Citibank told me on Friday that XXXX recalls were to be issued for the six wire transfers, and I was given a case number. However, since then, we have had no confirmation that the recalls were made, Citibank has never contacted me back with any updates, they have left me in the dark as to what procedures they are undergoing and the status of this theft. None of the Citibank representatives I've spoken to have known what a recall is -- in fact, several asked me to explain to them what it is. Multiple Citibank representatives told me to call their wire transfer department on Saturday because it was open from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX However, that was not true. When I called, a recording said they were open Monday through Friday. Thus, I had to inform multiple Citibank reps of their own company 's operating hours. Then they repeatedly told me I would just have to call back on Monday, ignoring the urgency of wire transfer fraud. Their contention seems to be that fraud only occurs during business hours Monday through Friday. They were giving the criminals a head start. They refused to connect me with anyone who had expertise. Even on the fraud prevention number, they had no knowledge of the details of my case nor how to manage an ongoing incident of fraud. The criminals seemed to have more expertise than actual Citibank employees. It is hard to describe how absurd this experience has been, trying to communicate with one of the largest financial institutions in the world, which seems to have no protocol in place for responding to fraud. This flurry of wire transfers of large sums completely draining my savings and checking accounts was abnormal, atypical activity. Why wasnt this flagged and halted? Why wasnt this blocked? I have never made a wire transfer. I rarely withdraw money from this account. Why would a customer drain their entire life savings in the course of a couple hours on a Friday XXXX without requesting that their account be closed? Why would I leave XXXX dollars in my savings account and risk being penalized for not having Citibank 's required minimum of {$1500.00} in the account? Why would I transfer large and similar sums to four different banks and four different people? The whole thing reeked of fraud. Citibanks reaction : Slow and clumsy. No one seems to know what to do. Theft from a major bank that does not seem to know how to stop it? Unacceptable. The person posing as a Citibank representative called and texted from authorized, official Citibank phone numbers, which I later confirmed with Citibank, and which they even had me call. She hacked into my account. The incredible absence of fraud prevention and the lack of assistance from Citibank can only lead me to conclude that they have been negligent in their response to this customer. Please contact me for further information. Thank you for reviewing my case. All the money I earned is gone. I'm not sure how to move forward. I have heard from various people that CFPB has helped consumers recover their stolen money.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XX/XX/23 I purchased a generator from XXXX online using my cc. They sent me a damaged generator and I filed a dispute. Citi has issued a conditional credit but here is my dilemma : XXXX is NOT answering any of my emails or phone calls so we can reach a resolution, Citi will keep this dispute open too long for me to prep for hurricane season ( need for generator in first place ) so I'm stuck with funds in limbo and a non functional generator that I paid for ( new but sent damaged ) and I need a resolution TODAY on this matter so I can either replace the generator or at least know there is some conclusion to this mess now as opposed to continuing to have to deal with this well into hurricane season. I'm seeking an IMMEDIATE resolution to this matter and am unwilling to wait months on end for Citi to finalize this.

Consumer Complaint: My deceased husband, XXXX XXXX, purchased hearing aids on my credit card that didn't work. The seller was not fixiing them per their warranty. I contacted Citi Bank and they kept telling me I had to work it out with the supplier. The hearing aid company was not returning any calls. When we went to their office they were no longer there. I contact Citi Bank and put in a dispute. Citi Bank should responsible for the information their representatives give to a customer, however they claim they are not. I spoke with XXXX in Customer Service Accounting and she told me it doesn't matter what their agents tell someone because they are human and make mistakes. I requested, in writing, a copy of the voice recordings from my 2 calls and never receive them or got a response to my request. XXXX said she had listened to the 2 recorded calls in which I spoke with 2 agents on different dates who both told me my dispute was approved. Later during that call she admitted she hadn't really listened but would. On the first one approximately XX/XX/27 I requested a check be sent to me. He took all the information and said a check would be sent to me if I preferred that over refunding it to my bank like they normally do and I said I did. On my second call, first week in XXXX they apologized for the delay. They told me the check was being released and mailed on XXXX XXXX. I mentioned to her if I couldnt wait for the check any longer could I use the credit if I had to. She said that would work too. We left for our investment house in NC where I had to order appliances. In so doing I used my credit that they told me I had won the dispute on. Before I used the credit I called one last time and confirmed the credit was still there and I could use it. That agent said I could go ahead and use it. They always tell you all this is on a recorded line. So they have the records. When I got back to my home in PA I had a letter Dated XXXX from Citi XXXX I enclosed a copy. Their letter verifies that they were not able to send the refund to my bank on XXXX XXXX because I had used up the credit instead. This letter from Citi verifies that the XXXX agents that told me I had gotten the disputed settled in my favor. Because I used the credit before it was sent to my bank per their letter they were not able to put it back into my bank. I believe once they fould out how old we were they decided to change the status of our claim approval decision.

Consumer Complaint: Information shared with Citi : I purchased the product on XXXX XXXX The merchant offers a 30-day money back guarantee ( THEY SHARED THIS POLICY WITH YOU. Did you read it? I requested the guaranteed refund 8 days after the purchase. Yes, they did nag me to stay, but I told them multiple times to cancel and refund. My comment : Citi sent me all of the correspondence, but they didn't read it. If they had, they would see that I followed all of the proper procedures to enforce the 30 day money back guarantee.

Consumer Complaint: hi, citi bank illegally hold up my company 's money for three months. At the beginning, the account was frozen and I was trying to recover this, after I confirmed with them the form was correctly filled out, and mailed to them. Citi said they delete my signature in their system, so they do not know how to verify it. They froze my company 's account illegally, and now refuse to recover the bank account unless I provide the company 's shareholder solution, which is irrelevant to the bank account. I asked citi to give me laws and regulations, why in order to recover my company bank account, I need to provide board resolution of the company 's parent company? they do not give me any laws/regulations. I can not pay my employees, my suppliers because of this, my employees sue me and my suppliers are chasing me. I had a huge financial and business loss, and citi do not care.

Consumer Complaint: After being a credit card customer with Citibank, I was offered a generous offer to open a checking account which would credit an airline account with a set amount of miles. I proceeded to take advantage of this offer and opened the account just over a month ago. The offer had two steps, two or more deposits totaling at least XXXX XXXX dollars and then one ore more debit card transactions totaling at least XXXX XXXX dollars. The issue is, after getting my money through XXXX deposits, which was a requirement, Citi now blocks me from using my funds. I've tried XXXX times to use my debit card, but there is always either an authorization issue, or the transaction is declined. What Citi did here, was scam me out of my money by depositing it into their financial system, and then block me from accessing it. Effectively 'stealing ' my own money. So now, I have XXXX problems. XXXX. I can not complete the offer, and I only have 90 days to do so ; XXXX. I can not use the funds to pay my bills ; XXXX. I can not take my funds out of the account. Since the account opened it has continually been under review. When I call the bank they can not give me a reason for the review, they refuse to provide details, they refuse to provide a time frame, they refuse to provide the names and phone number of the so called 'reviewers, they refuse to close my account and release my funds, and they even said during a recorded call, and there has been many calls, that they are allowed to hold my money indefinitely pending the so called 'review ' which they can not describe. I will be unable to pay my bills including rent and car payment and will sue for damages. I also need the CFPB to go after them on my behalf and publish this complaint so others can see that doing business with Citibank, at least on the checking account side, is a trap to take your money, then block you from accessing it.
