Consumer Complaint: Recently, I opened a Citibank account brand new just had my direct deposit switched over from my employer. Currently, the home I live in is my fathers name however, I make all the mortgage payments and I handle the homeowners policy.. Recently recently I had a renewal on my homeowners policy and they sent me a refund check in the amount of {$520.00} my father, signed the check over to me because technically its my money since Im the one that pays the policy and the mortgage. I decided since it was a brand new account I was gon na put some money in the savings and mobile deposited the check to Citibank. They accepted the check. I think they gave me {$100.00} upfront available and the next day the remainder of the balance was available. Believing that I had this available. I went ahead and spent money on XXXX presents and so forth. Now here it is two days before XXXX and Citibank freezes all of my accounts with all of my money. I have no money for gas. I have no money to buy XXXX dinner. I have absolutely nothing. I was not notified about this hold or freezing my accounts. I went to login and everything was gone. My accounts were completely disappeared out of my app. I cant get any answers. They told me 24 to 48 hours that was two days ago I called today theyre telling me 24 to 48 hours. I explained I have no money not even any gas money I asked them whats the expectation of what will be the outcome they cant give me an answer my direct deposit that I just newly had switched over to them is going to hit next week and I dont even know if Im going to have access to it no one will give me any answers. They barely speak English over in the XXXX. I tried counting, contacting somebody in the United States And had a branch manager contact them they are requesting that me and my father go into the branch together which is 10 hours away because the closest one is either XXXX XXXX or XXXX. They have closed all their brick and mortar locations. And are mostly online, but they wont accept documents online to resolve the issue. They want us to drive 10 hours on XXXX weekend to go down there. I am just livid. This is unacceptable in every fashion and theres absolutely nothing that I can do about it. I live paycheck to paycheck and theyre putting me in financial distress a few days before XXXX. Its disgusting and I cant get any answers and I need help.

Consumer Complaint: We purchased a refrigerator from Best Buy on XX/XX/XXXX on a Best Buy card which uses citi bank to service it. We set auto pay with no interest for 18 months. However, the refrigerator started having issue after few months and we filed for warranty. We went to Best Buy again XXXX and explained whats going on and the salesman told us that he can take care of it and get us a new refrigerator with same promotion. It was set on auto pay as well without us taking us any action. Since the purchase of first refrigerator on XX/XX/XXXX to present, there was NO STATEMENT, LETTER, or EMAIL showing the balance or promotion termination or how the payment was applied. No communication whatsoever at any point from citi bank to us. Then suddenly I noticed payment amount increased in XXXX of XXXX and we called Best Buy to get explanation who in turn told us to call citi bank. Citi Bank would not answer the phone often. Once they answered the call and told us to contact Best Buy. Here are the few issues in the business practices of citi bank. First of all, the credit card they issued to us had no name name of citi bank. It only had Best Buy which leads us to believe that Best Buy does in house financing. We had no knowledge of citi bank being the financing company till Best Buy told us to call them. Second, citi bank failed to send monthly statements which would outline promotion period, balance and other related items. Upon request, they failed to provide us proof of dates when they sent us statements, letters, or emails if they did one. There is the issue of transparency here. They were not providing statements monthly which would have enabled them to charge exorbitant amount of interest only if they could hide things from us. This is on borderline of fraud.

Consumer Complaint: RE : CFPB Complain ID : XXXX Citi Reference Number : XXXX After receiving the response from Citibank dated XX/XX/XXXX and stating that it is impossible to locate the monetary resources blocked, we are submitting a repeated complaint attaching the documents requested by Citibank. We are asking Citibank to review the documents attached and base the investigation using the data provided, not the materials filed by the XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. The following documents contain all information concerning the attempted transfer of monetary resources : ( 1 ) initial payment order, ( 2 ) XXXX-messages from Citibank stating that monetary resources were frozen by OFAC representative XXXX etc. If it in some way helps the investigation, we are describing the whole situation below. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX initiated a transaction with XXXX " XXXX XXXX XXXX authorizing the transfer of XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) from his bank account ( No. XXXX ) to the bank account of XXXX XXXX XXXX at Citibank XXXX. XXXX. Under XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX, dated XX/XX/XXXX, the specified funds were seamlessly transferred from the paying bank ( XXXX " XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) to the corresponding bank ( XXXX XXXX XXXX Citibank '' XXXX, XXXX ), where they were credited to the bank account No. XXXX. Confirmation from XXXX XXXX " Citibank '' XXXX arrived promptly on the same day, verifying the successful crediting of the funds to the bank account owned by Citibank XXXX. XXXX in XXXX XXXX " Citibank '' XXXX. But funds did not go any further. Following the transfer, XXXX " XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Citibank '' XXXX, and XXXX XXXX made XXXX inquiries regarding the subsequent movement of funds or potential return options. Subsequently, XXXX XXXX learned that during the attempt to transfer specified funds to Citibank XXXX. XXXX via XXXX the specified funds had been frozen by an order from the XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) XXXX and no actions could be taken unless a special license was issued by XXXX. We applied for such license and waited for a long time having the case pending. However, after a long while, we received a letter from XXXX stating that case status has been changed on " Returned Without Action ''. We contacted XXXX and Learned that Citibank failed to provide XXXX with the Blocking Report describing our transfer. After that, we've addressed this issue to Citibank N.A. London again and on XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX received an unexpected letter from Citibank N.A. London stating, " With the information you provided, we are unable to locate any wire transfer under XXXX review. '' This revelation intensified the situation, suggesting that there was no legal basis for freezing XXXX XXXX 's funds in the first place. But despite the fact Citibank N.A. London stated in the letter, we've never received any information about the current status of the attempted XXXX-transfer, beneficiary ( Interactive Brokers, LLC ) has never received the money nor the money ever returned to XXXX XXXX 's bank account. In an attempt to unravel the complexities of the situation, XXXX XXXX turned to the XXXX XXXX XXXX in early XXXX. Officers from the XXXX XXXX XXXX investigated the status of XXXX XXXX 's application and repeatedly confirmed that Citibank XXXX. XXXX had frozen the disputed transaction without reporting it to XXXX. The failure to submit a Blocking Report prevented XXXX from locating the transaction, thereby hindering the issuance of a special license. We hereby respectfully ask you to help resolving the sutiation and return the monetary resources to XXXX XXXX by at lease filing the Blocking Report with XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: This is the fourth Complaint. Citibank refused to release a check ( My Salary- I work as a XXXX ) that I deposited into my new bank account this happened back in XXXX XXXX, its been over 4 months now. Got an email from Citibank XX/XX/XXXXXXXX their response to my complaint through CFPB. Citi stated on the letter that they started the process to return the funds back to the XXXX bank and will take XXXX weeks to complete. Its been over 2 weeks now but still the XXXX didnt get the funds back. I contacted the XXXX and asked to call the Bank if the Receive the funds back but still no luck. Citi still hasnt return the funds which is {$1700.00}. XXXX which is the XXXX bank said to call Citibank and follow up with them but I was told before by Their XXXX representative names XXXX that they cant give me any information about the check anymore. So I will just use this flatform to raise this concern hoping that theyll do something about it. Citibank only took a day to deposit the check into my account and took them minutes to froze my account so I dont understand why are they taking forever to do their investigation and return the funds to the XXXX. They supposed to hold the check that I deposited if they have suspicions and return the money to the XXXX but they didnt and I am suffering because of this. They dont even care. I attached files.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/ I disputed the medical debt collections. It was still kept on my report even though XXXX has written articles on removing medical debt collections that are paid in full. I did not explicitly state this was the reason I was disputing the account. Confirmation number : XXXX. On XXXX I disputed the medical debt collections again. It was still kept on my report even though XXXX has written articles on removing medical debt collections that are paid in full. These articles I have attached to the XXXX dispute. I called and spoke to one representative who did not know about XXXX 's removal of medical debt, sent to collections, and paid in full. I was transferred to a supervisor XXXX, who only verified my information and concern then dropped the call and did not call me back. I then called another time and was told to attach a cover letter outlining my request in addition to the articles I already attached as supporting documents. Confirmation number : XXXX On XXXX I disputed the medical debt collections again, for the third time. It was still kept on my report even though XXXX has written articles on removing medical debt collections that are paid in full. I attached a cover letter explaining the removal of medical debt, paid in full, and in collections. I attached articles both to the cover letter and the dispute itself. Confirmation number : XXXX I called on XX/XX/ and spoke to XXXX XXXX I am at a loss and have no idea why these articles, published by XXXX aren't made aware to the dispute investigators, why the documents aren't being read, and how many more disputes until the new policy is taught to individuals. On XXXX XXXX I applied for a Citi Custom Cash card. I was told I was declined because of the XXXX Credit report showing a Major Delinquency, the Medical Debt that is continuously ignored as medical debt in collections. The account, which should not be in my history has prevented me from attaining a financial product.

Consumer Complaint: Citibank has sent me an email on XX/XX/XXXX saying my account will be closed within 60 days because I have violated the terms of your account per the client manual. I was not given an explanation in that email about the exact nature of the violation. I have attached a copy of that email with this complaint. Since then I have not been able to login to my Citi account, do any transactions and I have been unable to get any help from Citi customer care. When I called Citibank, I was told that my account has been blocked/soon to be closed and customer care mostly repeated the same information provided to me as on the aforementioned email and disconnected abruptly. One customer care person said my account was detected with a " fraud transaction '' and hence its blocked and soon to be closed. I can confirm that there have been no such fraudulent transactions. However, I wasn't asked for an explanation by Citi. My account has approximately XXXX XXXX as on XX/XX/XXXX. The email sent by Citibank informs me that they will send any funds belonging to you to this [ my ] address, once the account is closed. This means that I cant access my own hard earned money in my citibank account right now and for upto 60 days or less, and is at citibank 's discretion. I need my funds ASAP to pay for my various bills, including my condo XXXX payments and several medical bills. I got the number for a Citi XXXX XXXX XXXX at : XXXX from an online reddit forum where a person faced a problem similar to me and opened a case with them. Link of post on online reddit forum : XXXX XXXX XXXX Citi XXXX XXXX XXXX told me to wait 15 calendar days before I get any response. This is a very long time for me as I need access to my funds now to pay my bills.

Consumer Complaint: - I recently closed on a home mortgage loan with Citibank, and to get a lower rate with a relationship discount, I had to bring new assets to Citi thus creating a Citi Brokerage account. - Citi also requested that the XXXX month mortgage be paid with a Citi checking account, so thus I also created a new Citi checking account. - To close on the loan, Citi said this checking account needed to be funded with XXXX which I did. - After the house closed, there is still almost 2 months before my first mortgage payment is due, so I wanted to pull out some money from my checking account to put it into brokerage so this money can at least be accruing some risk-free gains in treasury bills . - Citi wouldn't let me transfer the money out from my checking to brokerage account, and then locked and closed my account immediately, which still had significant funds ( {$25000.00} ) in it, and said they would mail me a check in 60-90 days. I am not sure whether it's because my Citi checking account is new ( ~30 days old ), and then had several transfers in and out, but Citi flagged my account and closed the account entirely with no warning. Had I not tried to sign in that day to again, try to transfer the money to my brokerage account and then call, I never would have even found out.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/ we purchased windows from the Home Depot install service in the amount of {$16000.00}. The purchase was paid for with the Home Depot credit card serviced by Citi Bank. The payment terms were 24 months zero % interest, we made the payments on time. The Home Depot install service installed defective windows that did not pass the XXXX XXXX building inspection on XXXX XXXX XXXX The Home Depot installation service refused to do the required warranty work and we received a certified letter dated XXXX XXXX XXXX denying our request for warranty work to repair the windows that did not pass inspection. I filed a dispute with the Home Depot Credit Card company. When the dispute was filed there was remaining balance of {$13000.00} on the credit card and we had a credit balance of {$3600.00} due to us. The Home Depot install service sent a certified letter to me and to Home Depot credit card company dated XXXX XXXX XXXX The letter was addressed to XXXX XXXX that has never been a name associated with me. The letter was filled with many untrue facts about me and my husband so they could prevail in the dispute. When the dispute ended the Home Depot Citi card charged our card an additional {$16000.00} which resulted in a balance of {$29000.00}, the charges are fraudulent. The Home Depot Citi Credit card refuses to remove or allow us to dispute the charges and they told us to talk to Home Depot to get them remove the charges. We also were told by the Home Depot Citi credit card employee to file a complaint with The Federal Trade Commission and file a dispute with the credit bureau. How can the credit card get away with charging us an additional {$16000.00} when we did not purchase any additional items using the card. We are XXXX on a fixed income, this is a total scam that has resulted in financial hardship for our family.
