Consumer Complaint: Capital One held me responsible for a check passed with a fraudulent indorsement. I used Capital One 's bill-pay feature to pay for my child 's monthly XXXX tuition. Every previous check sent in this manner was deposited with the school 's deposit stamp in the indorsement box on the back of the check, and this particular check was cashed with a personal signature. I verified the school never received the payment, and then I contacted Capital One requesting a refund. They denied the claim explaining they " didn't find any errors with the payment. ''

Consumer Complaint: Dear CFPB Representative, I am writing to you in regards to a dispute I have had with Capital One regarding a fraudulent online course purchase that I made on XX/XX/2023, using my Capital One credit card. I am hoping that you can assist me in resolving this matter. The online course was purchased for {$1500.00}, but it turned out to be a scam. I immediately contacted the merchant and requested a refund, but they did not respond. I then filed a dispute request with Capital One and provided plenty of evidence to support my claim, including the fact that the online course access was removed from me even though I paid for it. Despite my efforts, Capital One has denied my dispute and closed the case, stating that I need to contact the merchant directly to resolve the issue. I have already tried to contact the merchant and have not received any response. I believe that Capital One is not fulfilling its obligation to protect its customers from fraudulent merchants. I am seeking your assistance to resolve this matter and to ensure that I am not held responsible for this fraudulent charge. I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to your response. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 - XXXX noticed a charge on my Captial One Quicksilver Credit Card from XXXX in the amount of {$390.00}. I told the representative that I did not authorize the charge. On XX/XX/2023 - Capital One made a pay adjustment to my account for {$390.00} and advised me that they would invest the transaction. I provided information regarding my interactions with XXXX On XX/XX/2023 - Capital One reinstated the charge of {$390.00} on my account. I contacted them immediately and I was told that they would further investigate the matter and asked that I provide all documentation I had with XXXX, which I did. On XX/XX/2023 - Capital One made a pay adjustment removing the {$390.00} from my account. On XX/XX/2023 - Captial One reinstated the charge of {$390.00} on my account. I contacted them again and let them know that I did not authorize that transaction. On XXXX/XXXX/XXXX - Capital One initially removed the charge and then reinstated the charge. I called Capital One and advised the Representative I did not authorize the charge. They said they would look into the matter. On XX/XX/2023, I received a letter from Capital One stating they are unable to assist with my dispute claim and for me to contact the merchant and work directly with them. I advised the representative that the XXXX has no telephone number and communicated only by email. I also advised the Rep that my attempts to contact XXXX by email were met with no response. I asked to elevate my complaint to a supervisor. The supervisor said that information was still needed and I advised him that I sent all the communications I have had with XXXX, he simply dismissed my complaint and said they could do nothing more. I asked what information XXXX has provided to substantiate the charge because I have no invoice and none of the communications, I had from XXXX contained any acknowledgement of a charge presented to or accepted by me. When I asked what information, they had from XXXX supporting the charge, he did not respond. I advised the supervisor that I would be contacting CFPB, he seemed unconcerned. Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX my banking account with Capital One processed the amount of {$800.00} I had transferred from my main bank which is XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ). I had received an email, that same day, stating and I quote " We are restricting your Capital One 360 account ( s ) until we can verify your recent account activity. Based on the results of our review, your account ( s ) may be closed and your balance -plus all interest earned- will be transferred to your externally linked checking account. If you do not have an externally linked checking account or if the account linked is no longer open, a check will be mailed within 7-10 business days to address on file. '' I first called them on the XXXX in a confused panic as to why I didn't have access and what went wrong. The first day was XX/XX/XXXX, I had called three times ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ) excessive, yes. I was sent to a voicemail all three times. None of which I was called back for. I called once again on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX to leave another voicemail becoming frustrated as their voicemail states someone would contact me in 48 hours if they deemed it necessary. My account was still locked. Same thing once more I called again XX/XX/XXXX, no check in the mail and no call back. XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX, I finally got to talk with someone and was even on the phone with the representative for a half an hour. She put me on hold a lot. She conferenced with XXXX and had them verify that it was my account and that the money did come from me. Right when I thought things were settled and I would be able to have access to my account again she then stated that Capital One no longer wanted to do banking services with me, and that I would be getting a check in 7 to 10 business days. She stated it was because XXXX was a prepaid bank, which made no sense to me. Trying to give the bank the benefit of the doubt, I waited for the check that never came, I tried again XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX this time to ask where the check was, because I haven't seen the money, they kept informing me I was going to receive back. They informed me it was going to be sent out that day. I got nothing, so I called again on XX/XX/XXXX XXXX to see what was going on and I was transferred to leave a voicemail once more. Again, not receiving a call back. I called again on XX/XX/XXXX I was transferred directly to the voicemail with no call back. Today being XX/XX/XXXX, I went to Capital One to speak with a bank agent. She also was put on hold only for her to inform me that XXXX was going to have to dispute the transfer that went through and is in the Capital One checking account. The lady said it was my only option at this point, even though they have my money and I there for them to finally close my accounts. It has been a total of 69 days since the deposit went through. I have started a dispute with XXXX for Capital One to get my money back, but XXXX informed me there is a possibility of it not happening because I need to have verification from Capital One that, that is what they said. I am tired of being Ping Ponged back and forth with Capital One and wish to get all of my banking money out of their hands as soon as possible : I have two CD accounts with them as well as a checking and savings I don't have access to. Total Capital One owes me : {$1000.00} As they had stated they would send me when they claimed to be closing my accounts.

Consumer Complaint: My account with Capital One was settled in full XX/XX/XXXX. As of today XX/XX/XXXX it is still being charged off each month by Capital One. It was paid in full to XXXX XXXX by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. I have the paid in full letter from XXXX. I have disputed with all 3 credit reporting agencies and have sent certified letters to both XXXX and Capital One with no response. In fact, the XXXX I have sent are still at the post office unclaimed. XXXX sent on XX/XX/XXXX, the other on XX/XX/XXXX. All i want is the reporting to show correct as of XX/XX/XXXX showing as paid in full for lesser amount and the charge offs removed for the months from XX/XX/XXXX til now. I have all documentation that I have sent to submit to you. I am frustrated that i have received no response and it has not been fixed by either Capital One or the credit reporting agencies. They have never sent me any more bills on this account because its paid in full, still showing balance of {$3900.00} on all bureaus.
