Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Account opened as a result of fraud
Consumer Complaint: on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX Bank of America has opened fraudulent checking accounts in my name and then allowed the individual to immediately change the contact information on the account. Every time I have told Bank of America that I want them to put an alert out that I want NO account opened in my name with my social with their company period. Every time they have told me to put a freeze on the XXXX XXXX to avoid this, which I DID do after the first time and they are still opening these fraudulent accounts. I have contacted XXXXXXXX XXXX and have a full report and confirmation that Bank of America NEVER ran the account through the XXXX XXXX before opening the account, which would have avoided this situation the 2nd and 3rd time this has happened. I have had to put significant personal effort into getting these reports and closing these accounts every single time they do it and there is no sign they will stop. These fraudulent accounts have some kind of activity of them, which they will not show me and I do not have access to see. This is extremely frustrating that a bank that large would seemingly assist fraudsters.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I called Bank of America regarding credit card XXXX for them to help me set up autopay. I put all my bills on autopay. Their associate set it up for me by phone then unfortunately come to find out when she took my bank account numbers over the phone she failed to include one of the numbers. I thought I was all good that my payments were being automatically withdrawn from my bank account on the due dates. But because she did not put in my numbers correctly the auto payments declined transactions. I have XXXX credit cards and I have or should I say had an excellent credit history/score. I always and mean always pay on time by setting up autopay successfully. I was out of state for the winter I had no Wi-Fi so I was locked out of my email that could not be fixed so I opened up a new email account while away out of state, and I was not getting my U.S.P.S mail out of state either. I was there on severe family matters. When I got back home to Michigan I was going through my mail. I opened up a letter from Bank of America stating my payment is past due on this card and when I called I found out they closed it due to non payment for 4 months. I only owed them {$190.00} in which I paid off yesterday. Due to 4 missed payments I now owe them {$140.00} in late fees. I also, opened another letter from Bank of an America regarding credit card XXXX they also reduced my credit limit from {$11000.00} to {$2000.00}. All of this adverse information was sent to my credit reporting agencies. My credit score took a major hit. This would have never happened if Bank of Americas customer service associate would have set up my autopay successfully by putting in all my bank account numbers accurately in the first place. This mistake is noway my fault. They should have noticed this mistake right away and called me by telephone just as I called them to set up autopay in the first place. I am desperate to get this rectified in my favor to make me whole again. This is due to their negligence not mine. This is not because I outright failed to pay my payments. This is all due to an oversight on their end. Please help me by getting them to open my credit card ending in XXXX again, waiving the {$140.00} in late fees, and increasing my credit limit on card XXXX to the {$11000.00} again, and most importantly remove all this adverse information from all the credit bureau agencies. Thank you for your time in helping me rectify this serious matter Bank of America caused me due to their negligence and oversight. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX XXXX

Issue: Managing the loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with fees charged
Consumer Complaint: I got online to check my credit score, and it was reported that my auto loan balance went up. I logged onto my bank account that handles my auto loan and didn't notice any increase, but while checking I noticed that my loan fees were more than doubled what they were last year. I printed out what I am being charged as far as a daily finance charge ( {$2.00} ) and it was what my charges were typically last year when I looked at my monthly statements, but so far this year I have been charged {$170.00} & {$180.00} for XXXX and XXXX. I am ahead so another payment wasn't needed until XXXX. All last year the charges were around {$87.00}

Consumer Complaint: My wife received a phone call from a spoofed XXXX # to her cell phone at approximately XXXX ET on XX/XX/23. The number appeared as XXXX. XXXX also stated " BANK OF AMERICA. '' Bank of America 's legitimate # is XXXX. Coincidentally, my wife had lost her Bank of America debit card earlier that day and assumed she was receiving a call about potential fraudulent activity. The impersonating agent that spoke with my wife identified himself as XXXX XXXX from XXXX, Texas and provided an employee ID # : XXXX. They even have a fake XXXX Profile : https : XXXX The impersonating agent claimed that my wife 's Bank of America account was used to make an {$800.00} XXXX purchase and also a {$3500.00} transfer. The agent claimed they were able to stop the {$800.00} XXXX purchase in time, but that they needed her to setup a XXXX recipient to get the {$3500.00} transferred back to herself. They led my wife through steps to create a XXXX recipient ( as herself ) through her Bank of America mobile app, then transferred {$3500.00} to the recipient ( thinking it was herself ). We opened a claim with Bank of America less than 2 hours later at approximately XXXX ET. Regulation E of the Electronic Fund Transfer Act protects for unauthorized transfers ( 12 CFR 205.6 )
