Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to you due to my concerns with Bank of America 's financial practices. On XX/XX/2022 I purchased a trip for {$1700.00} through a third party travel company called XXXX XXXXXXXX using my Bank of America Credit Card. However, XXXX XXXXXXXX filed for bankruptcy sometime in XXXX XXXX XXXX. My travel partner and I did not find this out right away. After attempting to contact the XXXX, we were told to also contact our credit card companies. She had purchased through XXXX and got her money back almost instantly. I contacted BOA who stated they would send me directions via mail ( snail mail ) to send supporting documents back to them proving the matter. They said it must be sent via mail, even though I travel for work. By the time I returned home, and received the communication, it was significantly later. I was outside the window of time they allotted me to get supporting evidence back to them. In addition, they stated that since it was over 6 months from date of purchase it was outside the transaction window/time frame when they can return funds. I was beyond frustrated. They said there wasn't much they could do. After being transferred around to multiple departments, asking for managers etc. they said they would send me another form ( this time by email!, so they can correspond that way ) to submit my claim etc. Even though we confirmed my email, I never received any email. I followed up numerous times and never received any follow-up emails or instructions, despite being told they were sending them to me. However, I get confirmation emails and transaction alerts and statements from them regarding my credit cards all the time - there is no way these emails should not have made it to me. I have called BOA and wasted hours and hours on the phone with them, not getting anywhere. I believe they purposefully drew out the process, falsely stated they were sending me documents/emails etc, and had no intention of ever following through or returning my money for a purchase where no services were ever rendered. I have never received any written correspondence from the company except for that first letter that was sent while I was away from home. I have never received any type of compensation or refund from the company. Sadly, I eventually gave up/did n't have the bandwidth to continue fighting them until I read recent reports about the BOA 's other financial misconduct. I believe their misconduct is deeply ingrained into their entire system.

Consumer Complaint: Bank of America -- which is already under investigation by CFPB -- has set up its credit card payment system online in a manner that is not consistent with any other card company AND they do not disclose to the customer that if the consumer selects the payment due date on their online payment form and requests transfer from their bank account to Bank of America on the due date that this simply ( in the words of CSR at BOA ) " starts the process of payment '' which can then take " up to 24 hours '' to complete, meaning that BOA may then delay the payment and charge a {$39.00} junk late fee for people who have actually paid their credit cards on direct ACH from the bank to BOA on the day it is due. I contacted BOA about this and they " filed a report '' with their internal department and when asked, indicated that they " don't follow up on such reports with their customers. '' I have paid off the balance on this card and will not use it again. This is a fraudulent enterprise and they do not deserve my interest payments.

Consumer Complaint: Bank of America has been holding on to funds for an excessively long periods of time. I deposited a check XX/XX/XXXX. They said it would not be available until the XXXX. Deposit funds from XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX. The funds are STILL on hold today - 7 business days later. They said check back on the XXXX. Bank of America did not notify me the funds were on hold until I called asking why I could not transfer money. They asked me silly questions like what bank did it came from, what is their phone number and email. In the deposit information -- it already states deposit from " XXXX XXXX. ''

Consumer Complaint: I asked for a forbearance agreement. Since the beginning of XXXX Bani of America has been sending me notices non-stop. Every single day almost. My house is not going anywhere. I requested assistance from the State of Florida to help fix up my house so I can insure it. I am still waiting on that assistance. That could be years in the 'State of Florida XXXX Bank of America removed my online access so I can't see my account online. They did this about 2 years ago. I can't get online to see what is happening with my account yet so far in the month of XXXX they have sent me about 10 notices. I am not sure what they want me to do? Rob a bank? When I asked them about this and this makes absolutely no sense they said because I had to wait 2 years for them to stop dragging their feet over a loan modification that they would not restore my online access because they dragged their feet for two years. I can't even go online to pay my mortgage. But they are just salivating at the bit to take my house away from me a XXXX XXXX yr old woman. They can't wait.

Issue: Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage

Consumer Complaint: My worst complaint of XXXX XXXX Bank of America is what they have done this week in response to my filing a CFPB complaint last week : they have replied, that is, suddenly mid XXXX year XXXX week after filing a CFPB complaint, I received RETURN RECEIPT REQUIRED the attached FINAL Notice advising sale of my home which has a current first mortgage. Isnt it coincidental? OR is it horrible conduct concerning a first time home buyer and senior on a second mortgage where I believe Bank of America XXXX of several counts of fraud or real naughtiness for several reasons as follows : XXXX was forced to accept an XX/XX/XXXX instead of a XX/XX/XXXX ( for which I was eligible by highest XXXX XXXX ) in XXXX. I was told the XX/XX/XXXX vs. XX/XX/XXXX doubled the broker 's compensation. XXXX I was so concerned about the XXXX XXXX % variable rate on the XXXX that I refinanced it in the first year. It appears that as a result, I was not included in the class action suit where B of A lost and was convicted of felony fraud that covered my mortgage on this first time homebuyer {$400000.00} new home purchase. XXXX appears I am not being included in the audit going on now for people who were harmed i.e., when I begged them to give me something fixed, they changed my variable XXXX to a negative amortization note of XX/XX/XXXX at 1 %. I did not understand there would be a balloon of $ XXXX no new terms in the XXXX year. In addition it became a HELOC of {$90000.00}. XXXX I declared bankruptcy in XXXX and they continue to send monthly collection notices. I did not reaffirm the XXXX, as I have paid {$99000.00}. on this {$40000.00} note. Over time, XXXX things happened that seem like fraud or severe naughtiness. XXXX BofA said there was no complaint process or department. They never admitted the class action! until I contacted the underlying lender XXXX XXXX in the XXXX year. Suddenly I had a reply that on the " XXXX '' there was no wrongdoing from a magically appearing department. I explained that they apparently could not even view the original purchase, ie, the XXXX, then XXXX then XXXX my verbal reply was an unnamed supervisor said this fact would not change our reply and there was 'no further recourse ', ie, a lie. XXXX complained and received the attached letter from a law firm citing my hundreds of attempts ( attached letter ) and saying goodbye. I consider it fraud that they did not disclose the audit or the XXXX action committee. XXXX consider it FRAUD that suddenly, mid XXXX year of the note XXXX week after I file a CFPB complaint that I receive final MATURITY payment default notice citing intent to sell my home if I do not refinance XXXX. Especially since XXXX complied with their refi process and BofA FRAUDULENTLY tried to convert my moms destroyed Florida trailer from a {$68000.00} liability for removal into a XXXX home rental property. I accused the employee in writing of fraud after the tenth request further documentation for the lease, the insurance ( kidding? ). BofA tried to manufacture income, thats fraud, to qualify me> You do the math. I am XXXX. I receive social security, pay 90 % of that amount for my XXXX mortgage which is current. XXXX More naughtiness : back when, my refi paperwork was conveniently lost over XXXX times, until the taxpayers assumed liability. I believe that is important to document the past history of misconduct for which they were guilty, they did it to me. From a regulators perspective : this note has been in default for XXXX XXXX years and it is not reported on my credit at all. I believe that may be fraud by BofA to show a bad loan as a good loan in their regulated balances. I believe the foreclosure suddenly now is to clean up their fraud before regulators notice this much more serious offense, ie defrauding industry regulators. ( Attached )

Issue: Trouble during payment process
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: During the XX/XX/XXXX, I had issues with my former insurance provider XXXX resulting in a missed payment for one month. I obtained new insurance the following month with XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I was sent a letter from Bank of America indicating they would be force placing homeowners insurance due to a lack of coverage. I contacted Bank of America to inform them that I had obtained insurance and there was no need to force place it. The representative indicated they were notified of the insurance obtained but because I missed one month they would be charging it to me and force placing insurance for that month. This is not within the spirit of the regulation. The regulation requiring homeowners to retain homeowners insurance on their property is closely related to safety and soundness of the bank. This spirit of this regulation is to ensure homes do not have lapses in insurance that would result in a loss to the customer or Bank. It does not fit in the spectrum of having XXXX claims or losses and charging a customer for insurance 2 months later. Regardless, I said ok and understood that the force placement of insurance for a month would be charged to me. In XXXX of XXXX, I received the escrow analysis for my mortgage. I was unable to determine why it was increased so much. I contacted Bank of America and the associate said it was for the force placement of insurance. I filed a complaint to have the review the escrow analysis given I was only supposed to be charged for the XXXX month and they already knew I had insurance. I was told I should hear back within XXXX business days. I followed up twice for resolution and the second time ( weeks later in XX/XX/XXXX ) was told that although they knew my insurance was current they were still going force place the insurance ( also not consumer friendly or within the spirit of the regulations ). If they were going to still proceed to force place insurance that they need to make sure to inform XXXX because I had current auto deductions from my account that would need to be stopped. Best practices for financial institutions is to keep the same insurance and continue to pay the premium out of the escrow as to avoid gross costs to the customer by force placing insurance through an outside source. I advised I would not pay Bank of America AND XXXX for insurance. XX/XX/XXXX, my new payment took affect and my auto draft for the insurance continued cause my mortgage to fall behind of which it is currently still behind. I feel this is totally against the purpose of the regulation and is actually a case of disparaging impact as indicated in the XXXX regulation. I am asking that this issue be corrected as soon as possible. Thanks.
