Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: I submitted a previous complaint XXXX regarding ALLY BANK treating my account suspiciously. ALLY BANK on decided to close my account on XX/XX/2023. It sent a short email stating such and no other information on how my funds are to be returned to me, how long the return of funds is expected to take, etc. Their ONLY communication : " We closed your Money Market Savings Account ending in XXXX '' I think, as a professional courtesy, this should be included in any communication to unilaterally close my account. During this period, they are still a trustee of my funds and should act accordingly.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ), I am writing to report an issue with a financial institution that has caused harm to my credit score. My bank, Ally Bank, has been reporting incorrect information to the credit agencies, despite my attempts to rectify the situation. This misinformation has significantly impacted my ability to obtain credit and secure loans. I believe that Ally Bank 's practices violate regulations set forth by the CFPB and my rights as a consumer. I urge you to investigate this matter and ensure that consumers are protected from these unfair practices. Please take action to hold Ally Bank accountable for their actions and correct any erroneous information reported to the credit agencies. Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ), I am writing to file a formal complaint against Ally Bank for their egregious and unlawful practices that have caused significant harm to my credit score and financial standing. Despite fulfilling all my obligations and making all payments on time, Ally Bank has been falsely reporting that I have an open account and have been making payments until XXXX of XXXX, well after I returned the vehicle on XX/XX/XXXX. In addition to these fraudulent reports, Ally Bank has also been reporting that I am not making timely payments and that I am making late payments of {$120.00}, which is wholly incorrect. These deliberate and intentional actions have caused me severe financial harm, and Ally Bank has even sent my account to collections, despite my full compliance with the lease agreement. I believe that Ally Bank 's actions violate not only the regulations set forth by the CFPB but also the fundamental principles of fairness and integrity. As a consumer, I should not have to suffer due to Ally Bank 's fraudulent reporting and unlawful collections efforts. I urge you to investigate this matter thoroughly, hold Ally Bank accountable for their actions, and ensure that they take corrective measures immediately. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I recently applied and was approved for a credit card through Ally bank. Im building my credit up and am attempting to make purchases and immediately pay the purchases off. Ally bank refuses to allow me to make more than 4 payments to the card a month, which was forcing me to roll a balance over each month. After attempting to make a 5th payment online and through the phone, my account was locked by Ally without them notifying me. I only noticed when I wasnt able to log in anymore. I was not notified of this. When I called about it, they wanted me to verify my payment method by requesting my bank send them proof of account standing for the payment method. My bills for this account were electronically delivered to my web account, which means I never received my bill due to not being able to log in to the account. The telephone representatives gave conflicting information on how I could resolve paying the balance and closing the account. Some said I had to mail the payment in and could not pay over the phone ( do not have a statement with mailing address to mail a payment ), others said I could pay over the phone using the bank account that they had stated required verification from the bank ( again, conflicting information ). I finally was able to make my final payment over the phone today, XX/XX/2023, and was able to close the account on the same phone call ( or so they claim ). Ill be keeping an eye out on the account closure, but am concerned about the predatory payment practices of credit card. Why am I restricted to only 4 payments a month. And when I make more payments, why is it so difficult to verify a payment method? This seems predatory and as though Ally is doing everything possible to make paying off a credit card difficult to ensure you carry a balance that has a high interest rate.

Consumer Complaint: Existing complaint with ally bank. They have STILL not processed my bonus that was due on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. They have my recoded phone call stating that they would pay a {$500.00} bonus, along with getting my account opened and the request to transfer my money to their bank. They also have my messages in their system directing them to transfer {$50000.00} from my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX checking account to open an ally bank savings account. I wonder how many other customers they are not paying a bonus to for THEIR failure to transfer in their funds? Every time I have to contact them, AGAIN, or to contact you, the punitive damages for their failure to properly transfer my funds and to pay me the promised bonus should be increased.
