Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: To my dismay, it has been well beyond the allowed timeframe of 60 days, and I have yet to receive any meaningful information regarding the status of the investigation. I submitted a dispute regarding fraudulent accounts on my credit report, clearly indicating that I am a victim of identity theft. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), the credit reporting agencies are obligated to investigate such matters and provide resolution within a reasonable timeframe, not exceeding 30 days, with a potential extension of 15 days under certain circumstances. The lack of communication and transparency from your bureau is not only unprofessional but also in violation of the regulations set forth by the FCRA. I was the victim and Im not sure why the CRA is not complying with the law. Im very confused why this one seems to ignore my requests. I demand an immediate and thorough review of my case, along with the removal of the fraud accounts from my credit report or, at the very least, a suspension of their reporting until this matter is adequately resolved. It is evident that these disputed accounts are a result of identity theft, as your bureau has failed to verify their validity within the stipulated timeframe. XXXX XXXX XXXX -PLEASE DELETE!!! XXXX XXXX XXXX-PLEASE DELETE!!! I have diligently provided all necessary documentation to support my claim of identity theft, yet there has been no evidence of the bureau 's effort to verify the validity of the fraud. This lack of action is not only unacceptable but also indicative of a serious lapse in your bureau 's responsibility to protect consumers from the damaging effects of identity theft.
