Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: On or around XX/XX/2019, Discover sent me an email for a Promo APR of 1.9% for 9 months on new purchases. I clicked through the link and got a message that I was enrolled. Around 5 weeks later, on XX/XX/2019, I received a second email with the same offer. Immediately after receiving this second email, I sent a message to Discover to ensure that the purchases I made in reliance on the offer from the XX/XX/XXXX date were subject to the promotional offer. I was told that they did not have a record of me clicking through (which I most certainly did as I advised my mother who I support to make purchases, when she could, with Discover given the promo rate). They said they could not apply it retroactively but that it would apply starting the next day, XX/XX/2019. Thus, I now have nearly $1,000 in purchases (as I had no previous balance on the card, or it was paid in full every month), for which they should be applying the promotional rate but are not. Furthermore, Discover does not give any confirmation, other than the screen when you click through, that the rate was applied. Thus, at no point was I advised, until receiving the second email, that the offer did not go through (when the web page very clearly said it was activated). This is deceptive and misleading.

Consumer Complaint: Approximately XX/XX/XXXX I requested my Credit Reports from the 3 credit bureaus and found a Discover account that I did not apply for and have never used. I immediately requested a 'Fraud Alert ' be placed on file. As I continued to research my Credit Report I found glaring discrepancies that I reported to the bureaus and the Fraud Department of Discover. - The Discover Card was opened in XX/XX/XXXX - {$810.00} was charged and the account is more than 120 days delinquent -The account was turned over to a 3rd Party Collections that continuously called my cell # -The report shows that the Discover application was opened under a false address that I have NEVER lived at and the date of this Address Information has a date of XX/XX/XXXX. The thief 's put " Unknown '' as employment. I am an educator and have NEVER not known my employment type. I have been waiting for Discover to investigate this manner and report the fraud to the 3 credit bureaus to REMOVE Discover from my report and they have failed to do that. In the 'Fraud Department ' there seems to be one supervisor in charge of communicating decisions when I call for updates and depending on the time of day in a different time zone than where I live I can not get a response.

Consumer Complaint: I'm not able to modify my previously complaint so In order to submit new documentation received in the mail, I had to resubmit a whole new complaint. I've been trying to get Discover Financial Services to remove their account off my credit report and have disputed with XXXX several times since XXXX of this year ( 2019 ), but I may need to dispute with Discover directly. Discover sold my account to a collections agency ( XXXX XXXX ) and the collections agency had taken me to court in which I won the case. Since I won the case, this credit card/Collections agency should be removed off my account. It is still reporting as late payments which is having a tremendous effect on my score. Of course, XXXX XXXX submitted the wrong index number on all their documents to mislead me, but upon filing my information with the court they were able to locate the case and I was mailed proof of dismissal of the case. I've sent this documentation to XXXX weeks ago and it's still on my report. XXXX and XXXX were kind enough to send me a letter of dismissal as well, but NO ONE wants to remove this from my credit report.

Consumer Complaint: Discover card is charging me for a returned payment they sent to me in check form. This check was unfortunately sent in concert with my bank deauthorizing the payment too, so it was an error. I communicated several times via phone with Discover immediately upon receiving the check, as well as after, including today prior to resorting to a complaint. I was told to not worry about the check and that it was null and void, so I destroyed it as instructed. I was told my account was on hold for review for up to 4-5 business days. Its been two or more weeks. I have been unable to view my account or get a current balance. I was told today that my balance is double what the activity warrants. I am sure the returned payment has been charged to my account despite multiple attempts to communicate this error to customer service. Instead, Discover sent me a verification request from XXXX requesting personal tax information from the IRS. This feels like my debt is being held hostage as I am unable to access my account, Im given inaccurate balance, as well as being told my account is past due and accruing fees when Im not allowed to make payment unless I give IRS information. They have threatened to close my account if I do not comply with their request for IRS information. This is predatory and very disconcerting considering I have a long, healthy relationship with Discover until this. Please help!

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/19 I purchased first class tickets with XXXX Airlines, I also purchased travel insurance through XXXX XXXX a XXXX Partner Per XXXX recommendation on their site. I was unable to make the flight due too illness All parties attending business eat at the same restaurant and contracted some sort of bug. Meeting was canceled, Some parties left on earlier flights and were already in place others whom had not reached airport returned home. The Airline denied my refund stating it was a non refundable ticket, which is why we purchased travel insurance to be safe. My credit card company ( Discover ) offered me a temporary credit while they claim to arbitrate on my behalf. The Airline did not dispute in a timely fashion and therefor a decision was found in my favor from the credit card company, Somehow XXXX whom is also a customer od Discover ( a much larger Customer were given an addition bite at the apple to turn in documentation to reverse the credit applied to me, again a decision was found in my favor, The airline was then approached by the credit card company and given specific instructions on what to submit to get the credit reverse. Just Now on XX/XX/XXXX I was recharged the fee of XXXX dollars after they were coached by the credit card company on hoe to obtain the funds my travel insurance claim was never followed up on even though we submitted all documentation and all fees were paid It is unfair for the two giants Discover/XXXX to team up behind the scenes for several months to figure out the correct verbage to force me the little consumer to pay for a ticket that was never used. and To totally disregard the protection in place which has XXXX at the top of the letter head giving me false hope of protection. Now I am being told only after many hours of tiresome conversation with the credit card company I can submit additional information but only have 10 days to do so. Upon contacting XXXX Airlines they said the matter was closed and done they suspended the ticket and issued me a credit through the credit card company? and they have not resubmitted any new evidence that would change a decision from the first set of information they submitted. Whos side is the credit card company working for? obviously the bigger client which is a unfair practice and deceitful.
