Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I filed a complaint against the company for trying to collect a false debt from Discover previously on XX/XX/19 with the CFPB. I am trying to close on my home and am clear to close. They are maliciously still holding the debt in house and have not sent it back to the creditor at all. They stated below that they are not collecting the debt but yet they are still holding the debt from Discover, the original creditor. The attorney is intentionally not releasing the debt to Discover so that I can satisfy the charge off so that I can close on my home. I have also copied and ccd Discover bank and and attorney on this complaint so that I make sure Im following all steps required beforehand.

Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern, I paid in full my student Loan on XX/XX/2019. As of today (XX/XX/2019 ), my co-signer, still has this loan with an open status, as if it had not been paid, still showing on his credit records. I would like to proceed with two issues : 1. Demand Discover Student Loans to clear my co-signers loan status ( Credit report ) ASAP. 2. Make Discover student loans pay the required economic penalties for the harm done to both my co-signer and me and for their malpractice. Regards

Issue: Trouble during payment process
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: I had a home equity loan with Discover Bank for {$75000.00}. In both the Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure, it states under " Prepayment Penalty '' that there was none. I was also told this verbally. However, in a later set of documents it does describe a prepayment penalty if paid off within 36 months. I believe this discrepancy between the documents is deceptive. I believe I was lead to believe that there would not be a prepayment penalty and was surprised to find this {$420.00} penalty in my payoff letter. I spoke with a representative who agreed that it was misleading then a supervisor who noted that it was in another document which I signed. I told him I felt deceived but he was not willing to refund the prepayment penalty. I'm curious as to how many other people they are doing this to.

Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: I opened a new Discover Credit Card account in the spring of 2019 because of their Cashback Match promotion.I have asked several times to have my limit increased, but they have limited my credit allowance to $4,700, while the card in my husband's name has a limit of $XXXX. This seems to be SEXUAL DISCRIMINATION. I have a FICO score of XXXX, as does he. There is no justifiable reason for the difference in credit limit. My husband & I have had joint credit card accounts with Discover for at least 20 years. We also have a joint Discover Savings & Checking accounts with $32,000+ balance, and own 2 homes and 3 cars with no mortgages or any kind of loan. We pay our bills in full, on time every month. We should be treated like valuable customers, but at this point, we are not being treated that way.
