Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I am a victim of fraud. I had discovered that credit cards had been applied for and used using my identity. The moment I learned of this, I immediately called Discover card services and notified them and told them to freeze the account. I was not sure exactly what else to tell them at that time. I then called XXXX XXXX and started an account. Some time after that I received a bill from Discover, and so then I called them, they kept asking if I wanted to stop account and get a new one. Their wording was very confusing and they just kept asking despite me telling them that this is fraud and they needed to stop the account. Some time after that I received a new Discover card in my name with a different account number, and also a bill for the fraud account. I then called Discover again and told them that I dont want an account and that its all done under an action of fraud. The lady got very mad and told me that this is what I requested. I filed an FTC report and went through the processes and ended up having to request the credit reporting beuros to block the information, they did block it, but months later they unblocked it. I then requested another investigation with both Discover and XXXX. They both said that the information was correct. I have letters from Discover stating that the account was found to be fraud and also four different account numbers on the papers from Discover. When I requested all informationf from Discover, they sent me only the paperwork with the original account number. I still have all the papers with the different account numbers and them stating the account was found to be fraud. Discover has cost me well over $ XXXX in failed transactions and so much more!

Consumer Complaint: I was sent a bill from Discover Bank to pay. I sent them an AFFIDAVIT OF LEGAL NOTICE AND DEMAND TO VALIDATE DEBT CLAIM letter. Discover has NOT responded and Discover is well-aware that silence is acquiescence. Discover does NOT have a contract with me. Discover did NOT provide the ORIGINAL SIGNED, WET INK INSTRUMENT OF INDEBTEDNESS IN ITS ORIGINAL FORM. Discover is reporting their fraudulent/unverified account to my credit files.

Consumer Complaint: I am XXXX and need a credit card for emergency situations. Discover Card has continually reduced my credit limit from a maximum of {$15000.00} ten years ago to {$500.00} recently. My credit score has remained fair to good. recently it was XXXX. I have 100 % payments on time. I have had this card since XX/XX/1989, one of my longest. I used to use the card frequently, but since it has been gradually reduced to a {$500.00} limit, It is not useful for any travel or car rentals. Hardly anything except for small purchases, and it is not my go to card, primarily due to the low limit. I have a XXXX XXXX XXXX Visa XXXX with a limit of {$25000.00}. I have several other cards as well. So in the past couple of years, I have it as a backup, and not used. Discover Bank is therefore not making any fees or interest on it. That is the real reason they canceled my card, for lack of use. If they can't make any money, they don't want me as a customer. So then they look at my credit report and analyze it for any possible reason to get rid of me. The Key Factors they used for this decision are vague and several or not correct. Furthermore, if I were younger or used the card more, they would not have done this action. It is not as though I really need this low limit card, but the way they have done this is unfair and discriminatory. I am claiming age and XXXX discrimination in this denial of credit.

Consumer Complaint: I received a copy of a credit report from XXXX. IT had two actions reported as Potentially negative information - one being late payment history.. My ID Theft Protection provider gave me information concerning making a late payment on an account that has been closed. The XXXX report shows the creditor as XXXX. I filed a dispute with XXXX but the results are not due yet. However, when I review the Credit Report there is an indication that the creditor designated may be wrong. I have reported this problem before and it appears as though no correction ( s ) were ever made. The credit world has specific account number designations one being that of DISCOVER. Their credit card no. begins with a XXXX- DISCOVER indicated that there is a LATE PAYMENT history made to Tractor Supply in XX/XX/XXXX. Reviewing the EXPERIAN report I received in XX/XX/XXXX. I noticed that XXXX generated a separate report that cited XXXX listing the first 6-8 digits or so of the credit card number.. When this information previously appeared on a credit report, I contacted XXXX and they told me that credit card designation was for DISCOVER ( XXXX ). This report has never been updated to correct the erroneous information included in the report.
