Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: The loan is set up to pay the amount of interest of loan monthly. The amount is automatically withdrawn from checking account. I have made several additional payments after the interest payment was deducted, thinking that the amount that I paid over the interest amount would reflect and be applied to principle balance of the loan. In looking at loan history it shows a very small amount has gone to principle, most has been applied to interest. Example ; XXXX 's interest only payment was withdrawn on XXXX for {$290.00}. Additional payments I made expecting them to be applied to principle : XXXX XXXX {$100.00} XXXX {$200.00}, XXXX XXXX {$150.00}. The loan company only applied {$89.00} to principle and {$650.00} to interest. Looking at the history of this loan, I am concerned that my monies are not being applied properly. Since the life of the loan ( 3 semesters - merged to one loan ), Interest paid : {$3200.00} and Principle paid : $ {$990.00}. I have tried to call to understand why my extra payments are not being applied. They say its set up as simple fee interest calculated daily and when my daughter graduates in XX/XX/XXXX, in will then turn to compound interest. They sent me an Amortization of schedule for this loan and it shows payments going only to interest and on XX/XX/ the min. payment will be {$38000.00}? I believe this form they sent me has a major error. How will I ever pay this loan if I can never move forward no matter how much I pay monthly. I feel they are not putting my payments towards principle out of error. We also have a XXXX XXXX, and the balance is shrinking and there is a good amount of principle being applied from extra payments, so We need help with understanding how this company ever expect their student cliental, to get out of student debt?

Issue: Struggling to pay your bill
Subissue: Credit card company won't work with you while you're going through financial hardship
Consumer Complaint: I have communicated with Discover Card via certified letters explaining my hardship and the financial condition I'm in due to unexpected XXXX XXXX and subsequent health problems. Due to health problems I am no longer able to work and provide the income that I had prior to my health problems. I have appealed to Discover Card Office of the President on four different occasions explaining to them what terms would be feasible for me to sustain. Discover Card has not attempted in good faith to assist in resolving my dilemma. There has been no flexibility by Discover card a reasonable fixed lower interest rate, a reasonable monthly payment, and under a 60 month plan to pay off the balance. Discover card has merely offered the same standard plans of two options with exorbitant terms that in essence doesn't segway into the opportunity to pay off the debt in a reasonable time. The only response Discover Card has made is the standard option they offer to every customer as a one option fits all.

Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I applied at the same time as my husband did we both submitted the the same household income his credit score was about XXXX my score was about XXXX. My husband received a credit limit of {$9000.00} and I received a credit limit of {$4500.00}. I contacted the company today online and below is the explanation I received from the company today XX/XX/XXXX regarding this matter. Discover You're very welcome and thank you so much for your patience today. Keep in mind that messaging is a conversation that stays open to you so you can come back whenever you want. We'll respond to you as soon as possible and send you a notification once we do. I can certainly understand your concern in why your approved credit line wasn't quite aligned with the same household income as your husband. Just know that we process applications for the maximum credit line you may qualify for. Everyone 's credit information varies and that's how credit lines are determined. However, you can request a credit line increase after 3-6 months. Was this information helpful?
