Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: I received a text message from Capital One at XXXX in the morning of XX/XX/2023 alerting me to a charge they thought was a fraud charge on my card, they asked if I had just tried to make a purchase on my card at XXXX in the amount of {$1300.00} and asked me to reply Yes or No to protect my account. When I woke up at XXXX I immediately replied with No, I received a reply that we will take care of this right now and I then proceeded to call the number on my card and report the fraud and cancel my card. I was told I am not responsible for fraud charges and not to worry and the charge was removed from my account. Today XX/XX/2023, I received two online letters from Capital One which I have uploaded to this complaint. I immediately called the number on the letter and was told that I was responsible for the charges and there was nothing they can do, it is the law. They said the person who ordered the laptop gave my name and address and they picked up this order later in the day and gave ID that verified it was me. for this reason, they held me responsible for the purchase. I said I am not surprised the person had my name and address and obviously a fake ID, as they already had stolen my card information so it was not a surprise, they had this other information and how could they make this judgment based on this information. I said I was discussed with their decision, and I was told there is nothing they can do, and I will be responsible for this charge. I made the point that last year I spent {$480000.00} on this card and this is the way I am treated. I honestly believed that the consumer had 0 responsibility in a fraud case and the fact that Capital one initially alerted me to this fraud how can I be responsible. I contacted them immediately I woke up and read their text and cancelled the card and now they are holding me responsible Soley because the person who collected the order had an ID. This must happen all this time in fraud cases. I want to appeal this situation but was told there is nothing they can do. I am absolutely discussed with this decision and do not know what recourse to take. I refuse to pay for this charge that is not mine and fraudulent. I do not know what else I could have done to prevent this.

Consumer Complaint: I spoke with Capital One today after being in the Hospital with XXXX and missing work and paychecks. Spoke with a rep from Capital One and told her that after missing two payments and receiving two late fees and accrued Interest of {$230.00}, I would like to make a settlement. The rep gave me a {$50.00} credit towards the {$230.00} fees and then transferred my call to a different department. When I asked the new rep, ( XXXX ID # XXXX, Im sure is bogus ) to discuss a settlement, she replied that they can not because they just gave me a credit. I said, the credit that was just given 30 seconds ago? She said yes and asked us not to record our conversation. I then asked her to escalate the call and XXXX said she was it. I asked what was the percentage of Interest, and she said the usury charge of 29 percent. If this isnt the worst case of abusing and taking advantage of consumers, I do not know what is. Please provide some assistance with this situation. Thank You In advance.

Consumer Complaint: I spoke to Capital One about my credit account being incorrectly annotated as being over 30 days late back in XX/XX/XXXX. After my conversation with them on XX/XX/XXXX, they told me that they could send me a copy of my statements, agreed with me that this was a mistake, but will not remove the negative statement from my credit report. I asked them for a letter stating the mistake and they told me no.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 we applied for the Capitol One XXXX XXXX credit card via this website... XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX... The offer advertised was... " Annual Percentage Rate ( APR ) for Purchases and Transfers -- 0 % introductory APR for the first 15 months that your account is open. -- After that, your APR will be 19.24 %, 25.24 % or 29.24 %, based on your creditworthiness. '' ... We were approved the same day. On XX/XX/2023 we received the credit cards. On XX/XX/2023 we tried to submit a balance transfer online but the website said there was no offer available. We immediately called customer service who reiterated no balance transfer offer was available. We were transferred to the credit card department and re-explained the situation and were told that offers are published 11 days after approval and we should have received it by now if it was available. But the balance transfer offer does not currently show as available, Capital One must have chose not to offer it, and there was no guarantee if/when it would be offered. We were then requested to be transferred to a manager. After re-explaining everything to the manager ; the manager just restated that the offer was not available to us right now and to check back daily to see if it comes up but that it was not guaranteed. We had applied for the Capital One XXXX credit card specifically for the balance transfer intro offer.
