The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Have you been used, abused, or harmed by the many banks, credit unions, debt collectors, mortgage companies, or similar corporations, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) was created after the 2008 financial crisis which almost destroyed our economy.

It is far from perfect, but it is one of the places you can actually make a complaint and they will get in touch with the company and usually you are guaranteed some sort of response and resolution. It is often not what you want, but it should bring some clarity and help advise you on your next move, should you make one.

Filing a complaint is pretty straightforward and can be done at the following link: CFPB Complaints. Just follow their prompts and you should be done before too long. It is usually relatively quick to hear back. You can also call them at (855) 411-2372.

After you send in your complaint, they will reach out to the company with the complaint. The company must respond. They will give you a tracking number, similar to USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc., to help you keep track of the complaint's movements. Financial institutions have 15 days by law to respond. Others may take up to 60 days.

Good luck, I hope your issue is resolved quickly and effectively.
